About The Position

Yulista Aerospace Systems Engineering (ASE) is seeking a Director of Safety to provide strategic leadership and oversight of enterprise safety programs supporting aviation, engineering, maintenance, test, and mission support operations. This position is responsible for developing and implementing safety strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing risk, and fostering a culture of safety across multiple programs and operating locations. The Director serves as the senior safety advisor to leadership while partnering with customers, program managers, engineering, quality, and operations to ensure safe and compliant execution of contract requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Engineering, Aviation, Environmental Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 12+ years of progressively responsible experience in aviation, system safety, EHS, or occupational safety.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing safety programs and personnel.
  • Experience supporting DoD, FAA, OSHA, or other government-regulated environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS), risk management, accident investigation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Aviation Safety Officer, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience supporting military aviation, aerospace engineering, or aircraft maintenance programs.
  • Experience with AS9100/9110, FAA, OSHA, and DoD safety requirements.
  • Existing Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise safety programs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, FAA, DoD, customer, and environmental regulations.
  • Direct Aviation Safety, System Safety, Occupational Safety, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives.
  • Develop safety policies, procedures, and governance standards across ASE programs.
  • Conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, accident investigations, and corrective action planning.
  • Monitor safety performance through audits, inspections, metrics, and trend analysis.
  • Chair safety councils and support customer and regulatory inspections.
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Program Management to integrate safety throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Support proposal development, contract execution, and business growth initiatives by providing safety expertise.
  • Mentor safety professionals and promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
