About The Position

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Director of Safety is responsible for owning and leading Constructable’s company-wide safety strategy, ensuring the highest standards of safety performance across all projects and operations. This role is a key leadership position that drives a proactive, zero-incident safety culture, establishes accountability at all levels of the organization, and ensures full compliance with all regulatory requirements. The Director of Safety partners closely with executive leadership, project teams, and field personnel to integrate safety into every phase of planning and execution.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in construction safety leadership, preferably in commercial or industrial construction.
  • Proven track record of building, implementing, and leading safety programs across multiple job sites.
  • Deep knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence leadership, drive cultural change, and enforce accountability.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience conducting audits, investigations, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ability to think strategically while executing tactically in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or related field.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification (or higher).
  • CHST, CSP, or other relevant safety certifications.
  • Experience in design-build or EPC environments.

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Constructable’s company-wide safety strategy and programs.
  • Champion and embed a zero-incident safety culture aligned with Constructable’s core values across all teams and job sites.
  • Provide leadership and accountability for safety performance across all projects, ensuring consistent standards and execution.
  • Establish and enforce safety policies, procedures, and best practices that exceed OSHA and industry requirements.
  • Conduct and oversee job site audits, inspections, and risk assessments to proactively identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action plans, ensuring lessons learned are implemented company-wide.
  • Develop and track safety KPIs, providing executive-level reporting, insights, and strategic recommendations to the CEO and leadership team.
  • Partner with Operations and Project Management teams to integrate safety into preconstruction planning, scheduling, and execution.
  • Oversee subcontractor safety compliance, ensuring all partners adhere to Constructable’s safety standards and contractual obligations.
  • Design and deliver comprehensive safety training programs, orientations, and ongoing education initiatives.
  • Build and lead a scalable safety organization as the company grows.
  • Maintain current knowledge of safety regulations, industry trends, and best practices, ensuring continuous improvement and compliance.
  • Lead emergency preparedness and response planning across all projects and offices.
