The Director of Risk Management will oversee all corporate and project-specific insurance programs, including General Liability, Builder's Risk, Workers' Compensation, Auto Liability, Umbrella/Excess Liability, Professional Liability, Pollution Liability, Cyber Liability, Executive Risk Insurance, OCIP/CCIP programs, Subcontractor Default Insurance (SDI), and the Company's captive program. This role involves leading annual insurance renewals, managing broker and carrier relationships, analyzing coverage, and monitoring insurance costs to improve the total cost of risk. The Director will also oversee Builder's Risk program operations, including per-project BR requests, questionnaires, extensions, and coordination of owner-provided BR coverage. Additionally, they will manage the Master Builders Risk (MBR) program, endorsement processing, insurance invoice review, and coordination with Accounts Payable. The position requires reviewing owner contracts, subcontracts, vendor agreements, and purchase orders for risk exposure, ensuring appropriate indemnification, insurance, and limitation of liability provisions. Collaboration with legal and operations teams during contract negotiations is essential. The Director will establish and enforce subcontractor insurance compliance requirements, oversee certificate of insurance issuance and tracking, and manage Additional Insured and blanket endorsement requirements. A key responsibility is leading the subcontractor prequalification program, including financial risk analysis, trade partner performance monitoring, and ongoing compliance oversight. The role also involves overseeing owner-specific insurance compliance, maintaining insurance records, directing claims management, maintaining loss run analysis, and supporting Legal with document discovery. The Director will serve as the focal point for employee work-related injury case management, coordinate treatment levels, submit workers' compensation claims, and determine appropriate treatment pathways. They will also provide situational awareness on the Company's Experience Modification Rate (EMR) and coordinate return-to-work programs. Developing and leading the company's enterprise risk management framework, identifying risks, and recommending mitigation strategies are crucial. The Director will partner with Safety leadership, translate safety performance into insurance and financial outcomes, and support OSHA compliance. Oversight of surety relationships, ensuring regulatory compliance, and assisting with audits are also part of the role. Cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Legal, Marketing, and business development teams is expected. The Director will oversee the risk and insurance technology stack and be responsible for developing and managing departmental budgets, tracking key metrics, and preparing executive-level reporting. Finally, the Director will lead and mentor risk management and insurance personnel, foster a culture of accountability, and assist executive leadership with special projects.
