About The Position

This position provides effective leadership for Asset Protection, Safety, Risk, Facilities, and Compliance for Goodwill of Orange County. The role involves managing all aspects of Asset Protection, Security, Safety, Risk Management, and Internal Audit for Goodwill of Orange County and Landmark Services. The Director will develop strategic and tactical approaches to the company’s Loss Control Program, Asset Protection, Risk Management, and Safety for current and future operations. This leadership role will guide the Asset Protection, Safety, Risk Management, and Internal Audit Teams to educate, implement, and maintain compliance with Goodwill policies and procedures. The position is responsible for managing budgets and staffing to ensure departmental effectiveness and meet corporate needs, ensuring safe business operations throughout the corporation, and providing guidance to leadership regarding asset protection, safety, risk, and compliance. Additionally, the role provides leadership, oversight, and coordination of corporate buildings and satellite locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education and experience required in Asset Protection/Safety, Compliance and Risk management or related fields.
  • Ten years of experience managing an Asset Protection/Safety, Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance in a multi-location environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Must earn and retain the respect and confidence of the individuals supervised, staff peers, and Leadership of the corporation.
  • Proficient in the use of surveillance technology as a tool to accomplish the job, and well versed in the use of MS Office and other software products.
  • Must possess excellent interview skills during investigations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to interact with all levels of management, employees, clients, security agencies, and the general public.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and leadership skills in the development and implementation of Asset Protection and Safety programs, recommendations, policies and procedures.
  • Understands asset protection systems.
  • Ability to apply sound business principles and practices to project management and change management processes.
  • Must have own vehicle, valid California driver’s license, liability insurance, and DMV record which is acceptable to Goodwill/Landmark’s insurance company.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively identifies risks to the organization and identifies solutions for the organization to mitigate losses.
  • Coordinates and oversees critical incident response as well as investigations of significant incidents and losses.
  • Oversees Asset Protection and Safety personnel in conducting internal and external investigations, ensuring urgency and compliance to investigation standards in accordance with local laws and company policy.
  • Coordinates investigations of incidents such as alarm calls, unlawful intrusion, fires, and property damage, and coordinates activities with senior leaders, police, and fire departments during alarms or emergencies.
  • Creates and maintains records of all investigations, incidents, and apprehensions, and provides guidance and systems for record retention of investigation notes narratives, interviews, witnesses, and evidence.
  • Oversees the department’s observation of employee’s activities and reports infractions of company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates and oversees security services contractors and others performing company-wide services.
  • Approves and oversees filing of charges against those who commit crimes against Goodwill of Orange County or Landmark Services, ensuring active prosecutions are properly supported with evidence and appropriate witnesses.
  • Serves as liaison between Goodwill/Landmark and local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies on instances of alleged crime or threats against Goodwill or Landmark’s assets or employees.
  • Evaluates company facilities regarding physical security protection; provides on-site analysis of potential risks and develops appropriate and effective countermeasures to reduce the potential for loss and shrinkage.
  • Oversees the Risk Management for the Corporation including identification, Mitigation, and Insurance coverages.
  • Oversees the administration of Worker’s Compensation and Liability claims for the organization.
  • Responsible for overseeing the Internal Audit process for the corporation, including training and developing Internal Auditor(s) and conducting ongoing evaluation of process and internal audit content.
  • Evaluates company facilities regarding safety and risk management; provides on-site analysis of potential risks and develops appropriate and effective countermeasures to reduce the potential for loss.
  • Develops and maintains the annual operating budget and goals for the Asset Protection and Safety department and other assigned departments.
  • Develops and implements internal Policies and Procedures for the Corporation related to Asset Protection, Safety, and Corporate Compliance.
  • Identifies and eliminates risks that may result in property loss, injury, regulatory, or legal liability.
  • Provides leadership, direction, and development to the Asset Protection and Safety team.
  • Adheres to the “Code of Conduct” of the Agency and ensures that the Asset Protection and Safety team adheres to those principles as well.
  • Communicates completely and effectively with all employees and senior management.
  • Identifies cost effective physical security and life safety technologies, providing Network Integration, CCTV infrastructure, access controls and alarm systems.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in responding to Asset Protection and Safety matters 24/7.
  • Coordinates with the Human Resources Department for investigations regarding allegations or reports of suspicious employee activities and/or violations of company policies and procedures, including monitoring reports made through employee hotline.
  • Develops and maintains Asset Protection and Safety monthly trainings and awareness programs, and coordinates specialized training as required.
  • Communicates required Asset Protection and Safety programs during employee orientation and through ongoing presentations to ensure awareness and participation.
  • Evaluates work of contractors and staff for compliance with environmental, safety, building, and health standards and permit requirements in accordance with plans.
  • Maintains and monitors the asset protection systems within Goodwill of Orange County/Landmark Services (i.e. alarm, key control, vehicular GPS, and surveillance systems, etc.).
  • Prepares and reviews reports.
  • Maintains all Asset Protection related records and evidence in a confidential and orderly manner.
  • Ensures communication of any Asset Protection, Safety and Risk issues and provides solutions with all leadership.
  • Drives on company business as required.
  • Performs other job related duties as required.
  • Safeguards company property, including donated goods.
  • Reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession of company property.
  • Acts safely at all times, following all safety rules and regulations.
