About The Position

Advanced Medical Transport (AMT) is seeking a Director of Revenue Cycle to provide leadership for the company’s revenue realization process. This role involves overseeing the Patient Accounts Department, applying current regulatory principles and procedures, and offering supportive leadership to the team. The Director will ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of all revenue cycle processes, maintain compliance with regulations, and coordinate functions between various departments. This position is crucial for optimizing cash collections, managing claim trends, and reporting on billing and collection processes.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of leadership experience gained through increasingly responsible management positions within ambulance billing or closely related healthcare field.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Knowledge of private insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid billing procedures.
  • Knowledge of sources of information to verify insurance coverage, personal earnings and assets, and debtor’s ability to meet obligation.
  • Sound administrative skills.
  • Well-developed management skills and principles.
  • Knowledge of healthcare billing practices, automated billing and accounting systems, and collection laws, regulations and techniques.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply policies and procedures.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, superiors, and others.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Management and day-to-day operations of the Patient Accounts Department, along with Supervisors.
  • Ensuring all revenue cycle processes and procedures are effective, efficient, and compliant with legal and regulatory regulations.
  • Communication and coordination of revenue cycle functions between departments including communications/dispatch, operations, finance, compliance, human resources, and IT.
  • Managing staffing related processes such as interview/selection, employment transfer, promotion, discipline, and separation.
  • Reporting to internal and external customers on various aspects of patient accounts billing/collection processes and results.
  • Monitoring and overseeing claim collections and identifying payer trends to optimize cash collections.
  • Collaborating with the Finance Team regarding current and projected cash flow from month-to-date cash collections.
  • Monitoring and providing feedback to the Manager of Revenue Cycle and other staff on QA findings, trends, and training requirements.
  • Establishing clearly defined goals, deadlines, and expectations for each team member.
  • Providing oversight to ensure accountability and addressing performance issues.
  • Conducting regular meetings with the team to address process changes, organizational issues, and departmental matters.
  • Monitoring staff productivity and quality through internal performance systems; providing feedback, coaching, and corrective action.
  • Promoting and providing a safe working environment for all staff members and acting as a role model for company safety policies.
  • Coordinating, developing, and implementing Patient Accounts Department training focused on Medicare and Medicaid rules and regulations.
  • Collaborating with state and other ambulance associations to stay current on future changes impacting billing and reimbursement.
  • Managing all State (Medicaid) and Federal (Medicare) enrollments and revalidations for all AMT related entities.
  • Managing access to all internal patient accounts systems and third-party system access (e.g., hospital patient care record systems).
  • Ensuring the Patient Accounts SOP manual is periodically reviewed and updated.
