About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Director of Revenue Cycle to lead all aspects of revenue cycle operations for a large, mission-driven healthcare organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this leader will be responsible for developing and executing strategies that optimize reimbursement, strengthen cash flow, improve operational efficiency, and drive continuous process improvement across the revenue cycle. This role requires a strategic leader who can balance high-level financial oversight with operational execution while leveraging data, automation, and AI-powered tools to improve performance and support informed business decisions. The Director will partner closely with Finance, Clinical Operations, Compliance, Information Technology, and Executive Leadership to ensure a best-in-class revenue cycle operation. This position offers a hybrid work schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive healthcare revenue cycle experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing revenue cycle teams.
  • Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, managed care, and reimbursement methodologies.
  • Experience developing and monitoring revenue cycle KPIs.
  • Proven experience leading process improvement initiatives.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including: Pivot Tables, Power Query, XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Complex formulas, Financial modeling, Data analysis.
  • Experience building executive dashboards and performance reporting.
  • Proficiency with revenue cycle systems and healthcare ERP platforms.
  • Experience utilizing AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar technologies to improve reporting, automate workflows, analyze financial data, and enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all revenue cycle operations, including patient access, insurance verification, charge capture, billing, collections, payment posting, denials management, and accounts receivable.
  • Develop strategies to improve reimbursement, reduce denials, increase cash collections, and optimize revenue cycle performance.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and establish measurable operational goals.
  • Identify revenue leakage and implement corrective action plans.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, payer, and organizational requirements.
  • Develop executive dashboards and KPI reporting for senior leadership.
  • Analyze reimbursement trends, payer mix, collection performance, denial activity, and accounts receivable metrics.
  • Perform variance analysis and identify opportunities to improve financial performance.
  • Prepare financial models and operational analyses that support executive decision-making.
  • Present revenue cycle performance and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Lead automation and continuous improvement initiatives across the revenue cycle.
  • Leverage AI-powered tools to improve reporting, automate repetitive processes, identify trends, summarize operational data, and enhance decision-making.
  • Evaluate new technologies that improve efficiency, accuracy, and overall revenue cycle performance.
  • Develop standardized reporting and dashboard solutions that provide meaningful business insights.
  • Drive process improvements that strengthen internal controls and operational effectiveness.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing revenue cycle team.
  • Establish departmental goals and performance expectations.
  • Foster collaboration across Finance, Clinical Operations, IT, Compliance, and Executive Leadership.
  • Build a culture focused on accountability, customer service, innovation, and continuous improvement.
