About The Position

The Director of Residential Services is an integral leader in the mentorship, modeling, and operations of Typical Life Corporation. Responsible for the day-to-day operations of all residentials services, they serve as a resource to others. Knowledge of 6100 and 6400 regulations, compliance with all paperwork, time management, conflict resolution, and strategic planning is essential. The Director of Residential Services must have exemplary interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. They must be an advocate for people, safety, and growth. The Director of Residential Services is a member of TLC’s senior leadership team. This position reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer. This is a salaried, in-office position with the expectation of a flexible schedule, visiting programs during off hours and evenings at least once a month. A minimum of 4 years progressively responsible work experience in Human Resources is required.

Requirements

  • The employee is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, bend, twist, reach, extend, lift and carry weight.

  • Noise level in the work environment may vary from quiet, moderate to occasionally loud, but shouldn’t exceed 85 dBA or require the use of ear protection, (unless otherwise stated & will be provided).
  • Associate degree and Four (4) years’ experience working with people with an intellectual or developmental disability (IDD), or a bachelor's degree and two (2) years’ IDD experience, or a master's degree and two (2) year IDD experience.
  • Eighteen years of age or older
  • Valid Driver's license for 3 years
  • Certification from a licensed independent practitioner that the person is free of contagious disease.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for residential team

  • Provides supervision, guidance, and support to the Residential Management team.
  • Delivers reporting, trends, and issue management with Chief Operations Officer
  • Participates in annual strategic planning
  • Teaches, communicates, models and upholds TLC's policies, procedures and philosophies.
  • Completes data analysis showing trends as needed.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in the IDD field, applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Creates/promotes a culture centered on building self-directed lives with the people we support.
  • Trains residential staff in management styles, communication styles, best practices, and quality improvement plans.
  • Performs regular performance reviews for supportive supervision of Program Managers
  • Interview, check references, and hire residential management staff.
  • Participate on Administrative On Call Schedule.
  • Assist in the development of Strategic Plan
  • Maintains a presence throughout the residential homes and programs with touchpoints at each home at least once a month.
  • Lead and train the residential team to support all program operations, goals, daily routines, and the unique needs of the individuals in our programs.
  • Work with Director of Service Impact to ensure residential documentation is on time and correct.
  • Manage team performance through effective communication, coaching, performance management, and regular staff meetings.
  • Ensure program documentation and billable records are completed accurately and timely through regular auditing and spot checking.
  • Ensure work locations and vehicles are well maintained above and beyond licensing guidelines.
  • Reviews residential program performance against budget, licensing regulations, and agency policies/procedures.
  • Promotes positive reputation of TLC programs by acting to resolve concerns from stakeholders
  • Ensure nutritional meals are provided and any special diets are followed.
  • Oversee the development, documentation, implementation, and monitoring of intervention plans.
  • Support Residential Team through coverage for on-call, vacations, and time away.
  • Maintains current knowledge of licensing guidelines and legislation in the IDD/ Autism/ MH field.
  • Lead annual licensing and ODP inspections with support from the Executive and Direct Support Management lines.
  • Maintain positive relationships with ODP and County liaisons
  • Attend PAR meetings and participate in PAR committees.
  • Ensure Medication Management is monitored in a full cycle approach including procedures, medication logs, medication administration, and documentation.
  • Develop and execute Plans of Correction.
  • Understand and support the importance of compliance with the Incident Management team.
  • Audit billing on a weekly basis.
  • Monitor and check APC changes submitted
  • Manage program admissions, discharges, hospital visits, and extended out of program situations.
  • Continually review areas for increased services and billing opportunities
  • Develop, implements, and maintain departmental budget.
  • Oversee the filing of HCSIS reports.
  • Keep others informed of significant information.
  • Be a resource for agency staff in cases of emergencies.
  • Work closely with Quality department for Audit findings, development of plans of action, and appropriate follow through and revision.
  • Completes internal audits throughout service line for spot checking compliance.
  • Monitors Program Managers on completion of duties.
  • Provide monthly trend reporting to Executive Team.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed
