About The Position

The Director of Residential Services (DRS) is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations, compliance, quality, and fiscal performance of Harc’s Residential Supports Program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position provides direct supervision to House Managers (Coordinators of Residential Supports) and is accountable for the delivery of person-centered services in alignment with regulatory standards and Harc’s mission. The DRS ensures that each individual supported is empowered to live a safe, meaningful, and independent life within their community, while also ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to policy and licensing requirements.

Requirements

  • Two years’ experience working with people with intellectual disabilities. (Other combinations of experience and education may be considered).
  • Experience providing supervision.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a liability free driving record at all times.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Working knowledge of DDS licensing regulations and requirements
  • Competence in Microsoft Word and Excel for Windows and ability to format and print documents.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of person-centered practices and principles of support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Effective supervisory, coaching, and team-building abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce professional, compliant documentation.
  • Sound judgment, ethical decision-making, and the ability to manage confidential and sensitive information.
  • Flexibility to manage multiple tasks and priorities, often shifting from one responsibility to another.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams, departments, and with external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to the values of dignity, respect, and empowerment for all individuals supported by Harc.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in special education, Social Work or other related field.

  • Has working knowledge of positive educational approaches and reinforcement programs that will support each resident’s individual strengths and adaptive limitations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and supervision to Coordinators of Residential Supports, fostering a positive team culture and a focus on high-quality service delivery.
  • Ensure full compliance with DDS regulations, state and federal statutes, Harc policies, and best practices, including participation in IP meetings and behavioral and medical oversight.
  • Oversee and implement auditing systems, including bi-annual DDS inspections and regular internal management audits to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary support with staff, family members, guardians, and outside agencies to promote holistic, person-centered care.
  • Manage and monitor residential budgets, including the oversight of overtime, staffing ratios, and over-budget hours, ensuring fiscal accountability.
  • Oversee the maintenance of all documentation systems, including Therap, time sheets (ADP), incident reports, training records, meeting minutes, and maintenance requests.
  • Lead regular team meetings and provide guidance, support, and performance oversight to residential leadership staff.
  • Support the onboarding and monitoring of new hires, ensuring proper training and successful completion of probationary periods.
  • Maintain a current understanding of all required training and certifications, ensuring staff compliance at all times.
  • Provide 24-hour on-call support and respond to emergencies involving the individuals served.
  • Collaborate with teams to explore and secure additional resources and funding, including DDS one-time funds and URR processes.
  • Ensure that all program environments are clean, safe, and well-maintained, including residential properties and vehicles.
  • Lead efforts to identify and pursue new opportunities for individual growth, development, and community integration.
  • Step in to provide direct participant support in situations of critical staffing shortage or emergency.
  • Ensure timely submission of required reports, IP documentation, and goal tracking materials.
