About The Position
The Director of Religious Education will plan, integrate, implement, oversee, and evaluate the religious education/faith formation of the total Parish community.
Requirements
- Must be a practicing Roman Catholic.
- Master’s Degree in Religious Education, Theology or Catechetics and Evangelization.
- Five years of experience overseeing a religious education or faith formation program in a Parish setting.
- Excellent communications skills both written and oral.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to select and train volunteer teachers.
Responsibilities
- Administer catechetical programs: Faith Formation in Grades K-12, Sacramental Preparation, Home School Supervision, Adult Faith Formation, services regarding religious education.
- Coordinate with catechists’ parents’ formation.
- Assist the Pastor in planning catechetical programs to meet both short and long-term goals.
- Prepare and administer Religious Education operating budgets in accordance with budget policies.
- Collaborate and communicate with the Pastor and other Parish ministries on an on-going basis regarding scheduling and promotion of events related to catechetical programs.
- Develop plans and implementation for the recruitment and training of catechists and volunteers.
- Schedule regular catechist and volunteer meetings to encourage the development of a catechetical faith community.
- Assist catechists, and volunteers with their certification requirements.
- Meeting the requirements of safe environment policies regarding Safe Environment Training for Youth.
- Act as a liaison between the Parish and the Diocesan Office of Religious Education.
- Continuing personal growth in faith and professional advancement.
- Attending Diocesan meetings related to Religious Education.
- Coordinate Faith formation with leaders and parish ministries.
- Coordinate and keep track of Parish ministries schedule.
- Organize and program with Pastor and catechists retreats for children, parents and sponsors.
- Organize other opportunities offered at Diocesan level (Youth Rally, Totus Tuus) and at parish level (Retreats and Missions).
- Other duties as assigned.
