About The Position

Housing for New Hope is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Relationships and Giving to lead the organization's philanthropic strategy and cultivate the relationships. This leader will serve as Housing for New Hope's chief fundraising strategist, partnering closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, leadership team, donors, foundations, corporations, faith communities, and civic partners to secure the philanthropic investments needed to expand supportive housing, develop affordable housing, and strengthen opportunities for individuals and families to thrive. The Director of Relationships and Giving will lead the organization's fundraising strategy while building meaningful relationships with individuals, foundations, corporations, faith communities, and civic leaders who share a commitment to expanding affordable housing, strengthening supportive housing, and creating pathways to lasting stability. Requirements

  • A commitment to Housing for New Hope's mission, values, and Vision 2032.
  • Demonstrated success securing major gifts ($5,000+) and building long-term philanthropic relationships.
  • Experience developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies.
  • Success working with individual donors, foundations, corporations, and community partners.
  • Experience managing grants and supporting effective grant reporting and stewardship.
  • Experience supervising staff while fostering collaboration, growth, and accountability.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • The ability to inspire confidence among donors, board members, volunteers, and community leaders.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with an eye toward both strategy and execution.
  • A collaborative leadership style marked by humility, integrity, curiosity, and a commitment to continuous learning.

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise with capital campaigns and planned giving is favored.
  • Experience in affordable housing, supportive housing, human services, community development, or related fields is welcomed but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy.
  • Partner with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Leadership Team to achieve annual and long-term philanthropic goals.
  • Foster a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization.
  • Develop fundraising goals, dashboards, and performance measures that support strategic decision-making.
  • Personally manage a portfolio of major and principal gift prospects.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward significant philanthropic investments.
  • Partner with the Executive Director and Board members in relationship development and donor engagement.
  • Expand planned giving and other long-term philanthropic opportunities.
  • Develop and implement special capital and capacity campaigns that support the strategic vision.
  • Develop strategies to strengthen existing foundation relationships while identifying new funding opportunities.
  • Ensure institutional funding aligns with organizational priorities and strategic vision.
  • Cultivate relationships with foundation leaders and institutional partners.
  • Build relationships with business leaders, faith communities, healthcare systems, universities, civic organizations, and public-sector partners.
  • Represent Housing for New Hope throughout the community as an ambassador and relationship builder.
  • Identify innovative partnerships that advance Housing for New Hope's mission and long-term vision.
  • Provide organizational leadership that supports strategy, collaboration, accountability, philanthropy, and mission impact.
  • Serve as an active member of the leadership team and help advance Housing for New Hope’s strategic priorities.
  • Launch, onboard, and supervise the new Manager of Annual Giving and Communications position.
  • Supervise the Grants Coordinator and support coordination across fundraising, communications, and stewardship.
  • Serve as staff liaison to the Board’s Relationships and Giving Committee.
  • Coach and develop a collaborative, high-performing team.
