About The Position

The Director of Rehabilitation (DOR) is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the rehabilitation department across assigned facilities. This role involves delivering and coordinating direct patient care, building and mentoring a rehab team (PT, OT, SLP, assistants, aides, and students), developing new therapy programs to improve outcomes, and ensuring clinical quality, compliance, and operational success.

Requirements

  • Licensed PT, OT, or SLP (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree minimum
  • Leadership experience in rehab, preferably in skilled nursing
  • Strong knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid, documentation, and compliance
  • Comfort using systems like Net Health & PointClickCare
  • Ability to juggle clinical care and leadership
  • Active therapy license in good standing
  • Ongoing continuing education
  • Willingness to travel as needed

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the rehab department across assigned facility/facilities
  • Deliver and coordinate both direct patient care and behind-the-scenes clinical excellence
  • Build, mentor, and manage a rehab team (PT, OT, SLP, assistants, aides, and students)
  • Develop new therapy programs that improve outcomes
  • Serve as the go-to expert for clinical quality, compliance, and operational success
  • Supervise, coach, and develop all rehab staff
  • Manage scheduling to ensure coverage meets patient needs
  • Maintain a caseload while leading
  • Ensure residents receive the right care at the right time
  • Ensure documentation is accurate, timely, and audit-ready
  • Monitor department productivity, outcomes, and overall performance
  • Handle billing, denials, and compliance
  • Lead hiring, onboarding, training, and performance input
  • Approve timecards and keep the department running smoothly
  • Collaborate with nursing, leadership, and referral sources
  • Attend meetings and contribute ideas
  • Prioritize safety and good body mechanics
  • Identify growth opportunities and help expand services
