About The Position

Cottage Hospital is seeking an experienced Director of Radiology to lead the clinical, operational, and financial performance of our Imaging Department. This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative healthcare leader to guide a dedicated team while helping shape the future of imaging services within a community-focused Critical Access Hospital. We are particularly interested in candidates with multi-modality imaging experience; however, we are open to considering qualified radiology leaders from any imaging specialty who bring strong operational, leadership, and patient care expertise. In this role, you will oversee all aspects of department operations, including strategic planning, staffing, budgeting, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and patient experience. Working closely with hospital leadership, providers, and the Medical Director, you will ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality imaging services while supporting organizational goals and maintaining exceptional standards of care.

Requirements

  • Leadership experience within a radiology or imaging department required.
  • Knowledge of healthcare operations, budgeting, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement principles.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and team-building skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on operational leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Multi-modality imaging experience preferred; candidates with strong experience in a single modality and demonstrated leadership success are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the Radiology Department, including daily operations, staffing, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Foster a culture of patient-centered care, employee engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, capital planning, equipment contracts, and operational expenses.
  • Monitor productivity, financial performance, and quality metrics, implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and patient outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with CMS, state, federal, accreditation, and regulatory requirements while maintaining continuous survey readiness.
  • Collaborate with physicians, hospital leadership, and clinical departments to optimize imaging services and patient care delivery.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and professional development efforts for radiology staff.
  • Evaluate department needs and recommend strategic initiatives to support future growth and service expansion.
  • Maintain strong relationships with referring providers, community partners, and external stakeholders.
