About The Position

The Department of Radiation Oncology is a major clinical, academic and service department of the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC). Reporting to the Associate Administrator for Essential Services, the Director of Radiation Oncology will partner with the Chair/Vice Chair and Medical Director of Radiation Oncology to provide overall leadership of services at the UWMC Montlake Radiation Oncology Department and UWMC Northwest Gamma Knife. This position is responsible for planning and executing all activities of the department including performance metrics and communication, policy and procedure development, strategic planning, capital and budget planning, customer service excellence and employee engagement, retention, and development. The Director will be accountable for working in partnership with key stakeholders and leading the department in alignment with overall Enterprise strategy and governance.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in healthcare or business administration
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading Radiation Oncology services in a hospital.
  • Radiation Therapist, Dosimetrist or Radiation Oncology Trained RN with strong operational and technical knowledge
  • Extensive understanding of Radiation Oncology and its related services
  • Proven leadership and operations skills
  • Demonstrated experience with employee engagement, retention, and development
  • Demonstrated experience in business planning, financial analysis and strategic planning
  • Demonstrated business acumen
  • Equivalent experience and/or education may be considered

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in an academic or otherwise complex healthcare system.

Responsibilities

  • Provides Executive level administrative leadership of the UWMC Radiation Oncology programs and ensures alignment with the overall Radiation Oncology integrated program (FHCC)
  • Responsible for/participating in developing and maintaining strategic plan for the department’s programs in alignment with the overall Radiation Oncology enterprise program.
  • The Director has decision making authority and must exercise independent judgment to maximize the use of the department's financial and performance resources; establishing financial management policies, coordinating and preparing regular financial and performance reporting for the Senior Associate Administrator for respective areas of accountability, and will serve as the senior departmental representative.
  • The Director manages the support services function of the department and must work closely with senior leadership to ensure that the department's activities in this area are effective and comply with the University and Medical Centers policies and procedures
  • The Director assists in developing a functional space plan for the department and coordinating the support services necessary to ensure the efficient operations of the departments facilities.
  • Direct Supervision of several clinical and supportive staff. Indirectly responsible for all employees within the department.
