About The Position

The purpose of this position is to direct, supervise, plan, and manage the daily operations and maintenance activities of the Public Works Department. Exercises direct and indirect supervision over management, administrative, supervisory, professional, technical, clerical and skilled labor staff. Public Works Operations includes the departments of Street Cleaning, Street Maintenance, Sidewalk Construction, Drainage, Graffiti Cleaning, Sanitation Residential Collection, Sanitation Commercial Box, Sanitation Brush Collection, Composting, Sanitation Recycling, and Sanitation Roll-Off Services program, Sanitation Administration, Fleet Maintenance, Materials Management, and Keep McAllen Beautiful. This job formulates long-range goals for the organization, develop policy and position papers and negotiates with the chief administrative officer and/or elected officials.
