Director of Behavioral Health Nursing Services (RN) Location: Massachusetts Job Type: Full-Time Sign-On Bonus: Up to $20,000 available for qualified candidates Lead the Future of Behavioral Health Care We are seeking an accomplished nursing leader to join our hospital leadership team as a Director of Behavioral Health Nursing Services. This position plays a critical role in supporting the Chief Nursing Officer and overseeing the delivery of high-quality psychiatric and behavioral health services across multiple departments. The ideal candidate is a strategic, hands-on leader with extensive psychiatric nursing leadership experience and a passion for clinical excellence, patient safety, staff development, and operational performance. Position Overview In this leadership role, you will help guide nursing operations and patient care services throughout designated behavioral health areas. Working closely with executive leadership, you will ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centered care while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. This position carries responsibility for the operational and clinical performance of assigned departments on a 24/7 basis.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in nursing or a healthcare-related field required.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • BSN or bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related discipline required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of psychiatric nursing leadership experience in an acute care or behavioral health setting.
  • Demonstrated success leading clinical teams and managing departmental operations.
  • Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Must maintain all licenses and certifications required by applicable regulations and organizational policies.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship management abilities.
  • Experience managing multiple clinical units or service lines.
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.
  • The ability to balance strategic initiatives with day-to-day operational leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for behavioral health nursing and patient care operations.
  • Partner with executive nursing leadership to drive clinical quality, patient safety, and service excellence initiatives.
  • Support strategic planning, program development, and implementation of nursing best practices.
  • Oversee staffing, resource utilization, and department performance to ensure efficient operations.
  • Promote a positive work environment focused on employee engagement, professional growth, and retention.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate patient care outcomes and implement process improvements to enhance quality and safety.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support exceptional patient experiences and clinical outcomes.
  • Mentor and develop nursing leaders and clinical staff to strengthen organizational capabilities.
