Tablescapes Event Rentals is hiring a Director of Product Sourcing and Strategy to join their leadership team in Chicago, IL. This will be a hybrid role with the ability to work out of the downtown or Franklin Park location when in office. Tablescapes is a growing event rentals company with a market-leading reputation, providing exceptional service to our clients through a combination of dedication, teamwork, and precision. We are seeking a strategic and entrepreneurial Director of Product Sourcing & Strategy to lead the development of our product vision, sourcing infrastructure, and commercial performance. This leader will own the intersection of product strategy, global sourcing, and commercial execution to build a scalable foundation for growth. The ideal candidate combines product instincts with financial and operational rigor, bringing experience in product development, sourcing strategy, and commercialization. This individual will play a critical role in shaping product assortment, creating a differentiated brand identity, building supplier relationships, and driving long-term profitability. This is a highly visible leadership role with significant ownership and a potential path toward broader executive leadership responsibility, including future Head of Product or Merchandising leadership opportunities.

Requirements

  • Have operated across both product/merchandising and sourcing/vendor strategy functions.
  • Bring experience within home furnishings, furniture, tabletop, consumer products, or adjacent categories.
  • Combine strong aesthetic judgment and customer understanding with financial rigor and margin discipline.
  • Are comfortable building systems, infrastructure, and processes within a high-growth or evolving environment.
  • Have experience navigating ambiguity and making strategic decisions in fast-moving organizations.
  • Demonstrate a high level of ownership with a builder mentality.

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in product management, merchandising, sourcing, or related leadership roles.
  • Experience owning both product and sourcing responsibilities.
  • Strong global sourcing and vendor negotiation experience.
  • Proven track record of balancing design, quality, pricing, and profitability objectives.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen.
  • Emerging design-forward and growth-stage consumer brands

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute overall assortment strategy across existing and emerging categories.
  • Establish and evolve product and brand point of view.
  • Identify opportunities for category expansion and product innovation.
  • Translate customer insights and market trends into differentiated product opportunities.
  • Lead product development from concept through launch.
  • Build and manage a scalable domestic and global supplier network.
  • Develop sourcing strategies including make-versus-buy analyses and vendor optimization initiatives.
  • Lead supplier selection, negotiations, and ongoing relationship management.
  • Establish partnerships that improve cost, quality, speed to market, and innovation.
  • Ensure sourcing strategies support long-term business growth objectives.
  • Own pricing architecture and gross margin strategy.
  • Develop margin targets and ensure product decisions align with profitability objectives.
  • Drive disciplined decision-making across pricing, cost, and inventory efficiency.
  • Evaluate product and supplier performance to identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Create repeatable product and sourcing processes that scale with company growth.
  • Build systems and frameworks that improve execution and decision-making.
  • Lead collaboration across product, sourcing, operations, finance, and executive leadership teams.
  • Establish KPIs and performance metrics to measure success.
