$183,000 - $202,000Hybrid

About The Position

This role exists to transform the Long Stays segment in the hospitality industry, which is experiencing rapid growth and has unique operational and economic models. The Director of Product and Engineering, Long Stays will own the strategy, product, technical direction, and outcomes for this segment end-to-end. This is a hands-on role where the individual will lead a small team of product builders while also contributing directly to product development, including writing specs, making product decisions, and contributing to code. The role involves leveraging AI agents and internal tooling to enhance team capabilities and drive efficiency. Success will be measured by a combination of commercial metrics (ARR growth, embedded payments revenue) and product north star metrics.

Requirements

  • Experience in both product leadership and hands-on product building, comfortable moving between strategy and execution.
  • Technical depth to engage seriously with engineers on architecture and system design, with strong opinions on practical engineering quality.
  • Track record in a vertical or segment-specific product context, understanding how to build for specific customer types and make a business case.
  • Comfort running a small team with high autonomy, setting context rather than tasks.
  • Fluency with AI-assisted workflows, using these tools natively.
  • Strong commercial instincts, understanding revenue potential and pricing complexity.
  • Resilience, adaptability, and a willingness to solve difficult problems.
  • Expert collaboration and communication skills for a global, remote-first environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in hospitality, property management, short-term rentals, student accommodation, or a similarly operationally intensive sector.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Long Stays product vision, strategy, and roadmap across various segments like hybrid hospitality, student accommodation, aparthotels, and coliving, with direct accountability for ARR growth and product north star metrics.
  • Manage the full resident lifecycle as a product capability, including booking, lead-to-lease processes (monthly booking engine, tenant screening, contracting, guest verification, document collection), move-in and onboarding, billing and payments (recurring billing automation, direct debit, deposit lifecycle, invoice delivery, index-linked rent increases), revenue management and hybrid inventory yield, and the tenant self-service portal.
  • Drive embedded payments revenue as a shared commercial outcome, collaborating with the Fintech division to deliver and promote fintech products for the segment.
  • Define the technical direction for the tribe, including architecture decisions, engineering standards, and system health, acting as the senior technical and product voice.
  • Lead and develop a small team of product builders, ensuring they can operate independently and achieve their sub-metrics.
  • Lead hiring for the tribe as it grows, ensuring calibration and performance.
  • Manage the tribe's relationships with the rest of the organization, aligning on shared infrastructure, coordinating dependencies, and representing Long Stays in leadership forums.
  • Contribute individually on high-leverage problems, not just directing others.
  • Utilize AI agents, internal skills, and automation as the primary method for covering disciplines and accelerating delivery.
  • Build the tribe's context repository, including research, decision logs, domain models, and tooling to enable independent problem-solving by builders.
  • Define sub-metrics for each builder and ensure they have the necessary resources to achieve them independently.
  • Set the craft bar for product thinking, engineering quality, and team communication.
  • Ensure the team operates with high autonomy and takes ownership to drive outcomes.
  • Adapt to constant change in a rapidly scaling environment, maintaining curiosity and agility.
  • Collaborate effectively in a global, remote-first environment, building strong relationships.
  • Proactively use AI technology to improve efficiency and productivity, and share findings with the company.
