About The Position

Bobbie is a rapidly growing infant nutrition company, exceeding $150 million in revenue and experiencing 50% year-over-year growth. The company is expanding into new product categories while adhering to strict FDA-regulated infant formula standards. This newly created role of Director, Procurement & Raw Materials Strategy will be responsible for the strategic sourcing and supplier management of ingredients and packaging essential for Bobbie's expansion. The position reports directly to the VP, Supply Chain. Currently, one individual manages procurement strategy, supplier negotiation, tactical buying, and cost tracking. This director will assume ownership of the strategic aspects of this work, establish the necessary infrastructure for cost accounting and supplier performance, and enable the existing purchasing team to concentrate on category execution and supplier relationships.

Requirements

8+ years in procurement or strategic sourcing.
Experience negotiating multi-year supply agreements, preferably in food, CPG, or another regulated manufacturing environment.
Experience establishing or significantly improving cost accounting or PPV processes.
Proficiency working directly within an ERP system and building reporting where none currently exists.
Experience managing suppliers through new product launches, including regulatory-driven timelines.
People leadership experience, with the ability to set strategy and remain closely involved in details to support the team.

Nice To Haves

Dairy or nutritional ingredient sourcing experience.
Experience in infant formula, baby food, or another FDA-regulated food category.
Experience scaling a procurement function within a high-growth company (50%+ year-over-year growth).

Responsibilities

Own supplier strategy across dairy and nutritional ingredients, other ingredients and premixes, and packaging, managing a base of approximately 25 approved suppliers, with growth expected as Bobbie enters new categories.
Lead the negotiation of multi-year supply agreements and master supply agreements.
Qualify and onboard new suppliers for Bobbie's expansion into new product categories, considering lead time, cost, and regulatory risks, including FDA and IFN clearance timelines for new packaging and ingredients.
Develop a formal supplier qualification process and scorecards.
Establish cost accounting and PPV (Purchase Price Variance) reporting for raw material and packaging expenditures, replacing the current manual spreadsheet system.
Oversee the procurement team's utilization of the ERP system for planning, MRP (Material Requirements Planning), PO (Purchase Order) issuance, and item costing, collaborating with the supply chain systems function for ongoing improvements.
Collaborate with Finance to manage PO approval thresholds related to cash timing, balancing raw material lead times with cash management requirements.
Manage and develop the purchasing team.
Transition the team's focus from reactive tactical buying to proactive category strategy and supplier relationship management.
Partner with Quality, Regulatory, and Science departments on ingredient and packaging specifications, supplier audits, and regulatory clearance timelines.
Collaborate with Supply Planning and Plant Operations, including co-manufacturing sites, on demand signals, lead times, and inventory positioning.
Work with Finance on cash timing, PO approval workflows, and cost reporting.
Support new product launches from a procurement perspective, including supplier selection, PO timing relative to regulatory clearance, and managing the trade-offs of ordering ahead of clearance when launch timelines necessitate.
