Website: www.austinoakshospital.com POSITION SUMMARY: Director of Plant Operations Role is one of Facility Fire Marshal, Safety Officer and Chairman of the Safety Committee and chief security officer. This position is responsible for initiating the emergency preparedness and operations programs for the Austin Oaks Hospital and acts as a liaison to the local community and state agency emergency management agencies. This position also exists to protect life and property of all persons on the hospital premises and to police the hospital grounds to prevent fire, theft, and vandalism. This position directs and coordinates activities of staff that will engage in repairs, maintenance and installation of plant equipment and infrastructure. This position assures the safety and security of buildings, utilities and grounds at all times. Success in this position is accomplished through utilization of shared services staff, cost effective labor,equipment and supplies.

Requirements

  • Previous demonstrated Supervisory experience required, preferably in a health care setting
  • Must have five years of experience in a health care environment, preferably behavioral
  • Must have five years of experience in general plant operations/engineering and building construction, preferably in a health care setting.
  • Valid Class C driver license; clean driving record.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand for sustained periods of time; walk, lift, pull objects from a lower to higher positions or horizontally from position to position; express or exchange ideas orally and potentially louder, accurately and quickly.
  • Visual acuity is needed while cleaning to ensure work is being done correctly.
  • Work is moderately heavy with frequent lifting and carrying objects weighting up to 50 pounds.
  • Work involves considerable walking, standing, pushing, pulling or equipment.
  • Position involves frequent reaching for and handling of cleaning tools, maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Work is completed indoors and outdoors.
  • Candidate must be able to assist in crisis intervention prevention with patients after completing crisis management orientation.
  • Candidate must understand the possibility and methods of protection for exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably College Graduate, a Facility Engineering Degree is beneficial or work experience equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility and compliance in the JC Environment of Care
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations as well as specific managed care regulatory compliance
  • Ensure compliance for Fire and Life Safety Codes, building and engineering codes
  • Proficient in Disaster Planning, Recovery and Mitigation
  • Facilitates an ongoing Building Maintenance Program as suggested and documents outcomes for Safety Committee
  • Maintenance and operations of HVAC equipment, infrastructure, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and grounds and roof maintenance
  • Maintains Computerized Maintenance Management where available
  • Facilitates and ensures compliance with medical equipment, hazardous materials and utility processes and policies
  • Assist in developing and implementing department policies and procedures
  • Proficient in analyzing and communicating quality/safety performance data, directing, assisting and supporting facility improvement
  • Plans and documents EOC and plant operations programs that are reported to Safety Committee
  • Strong management skills and the ability to communicate in verbal and written form, in a clear concise manner with staff and administrative personnel are required
  • Performs problem solving and decision-making in a logical and deliberate manner, utilizing available resources, when appropriate
