About The Position

The Director of Planning will oversee the planning process and wholesale performance of Special Market accounts such as TJX (Home Sense, Home Goods, etc.), Ross and Burlington across multiple home furnishings categories. This role involves leading the development and management of sales reporting, dashboards, and KPI tracking, translating complex data into actionable insights, and partnering with Sales teams to develop forecasts and identify growth opportunities. The Director will also establish best-in-class forecasting methodologies and support business strategy through data-driven guidance on category growth, brand expansion, and licensed business opportunities. Additionally, the role requires translating forecasts into inventory strategies and production orders, ensuring inventory planning supports business growth while managing risk, and aligning demand forecasts with production, lead times, and capacity.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of wholesale experience in analytics, forecasting, planning, or strategy within home furnishings, or related industries.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise-level planning across multiple accounts and product categories.
  • Strong ability to synthesize large data sets into concise, business-relevant insights.
  • Advanced analytical skills and deep comfort working with forecasting and planning tools.
  • Strategic thinker with strong commercial intuition.
  • Highly analytical, structured, and detail-oriented.
  • Proactive, self-directed leader who anticipates questions before they are asked.
  • Clear and confident communicator who can influence without authority.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and driving clarity through data.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and management of gross sales reporting, dashboards, and KPI tracking across all accounts.
  • Identify opportunities, risks and inflection points early and proactively communicate implications and recommendations.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that inform sales decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Partner with Sales teams to develop forecasts, account performance reviews and growth opportunities.
  • Establish best-in-class forecasting methodologies, tools, and performance metrics.
  • Provide data-driven guidance on category growth, brand expansion, and licensed business opportunities.
  • Support scenario planning and “what-if” analyses to guide strategic trade-offs and long-term growth initiatives.
  • Translate forecasts into inventory strategies and production orders; partner with Production on timely delivery of product and expectations in partnership with Sales and accounts.
  • Ensure inventory planning supports business growth while managing risk, efficiency, and working capital.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Purchasing to align demand forecasts with production, lead times, and capacity.
