About The Position

The Director of Philanthropy leads the organization's major gifts strategy and drives philanthropic growth through relationship-building, strategic fundraising, and data-informed donor engagement. This role manages a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects and collaborates with leadership to align giving opportunities with organizational priorities. The Director plays a key role in strengthening a culture of philanthropy that fuels mission-driven work across CHS.

Requirements

Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Demonstrated success in securing and stewarding gifts above $1,000.
Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency in CRM databases, donor research tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong understanding of major gift fundraising principles, donor cultivation, and donor lifecycle strategies.
Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, or related field from an accredited university, plus five years of related work experience in fundraising, with a focus on major gifts; or a combination of education and experience to equal nine years.
Must provide a valid driver's license and proof of personal valid vehicle insurance.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the CDO and CEO to set annual fundraising goals and develop strategic plans to meet or exceed targets.
Establish and track key performance indicators for fundraising progress and donor engagement.
Manage and grow a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors through personalized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
Build authentic relationships that connect donors' philanthropic goals with CHS's mission and priorities.
Ensure high-quality stewardship experiences that promote long-term donor retention and increased giving.

Use donor data and analytics to drive engagement strategies, forecast revenue, and evaluate program effectiveness
Maintain accurate donor records, interactions, and gift history within the CRM system
Generate reports to inform fundraising decisions and measure outcomes.
Partner with program staff and leadership management team to identify funding opportunities and craft compelling cases for support.
Support organizational campaigns, events, and initiatives by aligning philanthropic messaging with CHS's strategic goals.
Promote a culture of philanthropy across CHS through internal collaboration and staff engagement
Represent CHS at community events and donor meetings, reinforcing the organization's mission and vision.
