About The Position

The Vice President of Philanthropy provides strategic vision and leadership for all fundraising and community engagement efforts that sustain and grow the mission to end hunger and address food insecurity. This position oversees all aspects of philanthropy, including individual giving, corporate partnerships, foundation relations, special events, and planned giving. The VP of Philanthropy serves as a key member of the executive leadership team, fostering a culture of generosity, gratitude, and impact. Working closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and senior staff, this leader ensures the organization has the financial resources and relationships needed to serve the community with dignity, compassion, and excellence. Our Mission We believe that access to food is a basic human right. The Vice President of Philanthropy will play a vital role in ensuring that every family, senior, and child in our community has access to the nutritious food they deserve—and that the organization has the resources to make this vision a reality.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible fundraising experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
Proven record of securing major gifts and leading successful campaigns.
Deep understanding of nonprofit fundraising principles, donor engagement, and CRM systems.
Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
Strong commitment to the mission of hunger relief and community empowerment.
Demonstrated servant leadership and ability to inspire others toward collective impact.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership
Design and implement a multi-year, diversified fundraising strategy aligned with the organization’s strategic plan and community impact goals.
Partner with the CEO and Board to establish annual fundraising targets and monitor progress toward goals.
Champion a culture of philanthropy across staff, volunteers, and partners.
Strengthen the organization’s visibility and reputation as a trusted community leader in hunger relief.
Fund Development
Lead all fundraising initiatives, including major gifts, annual giving, grants, capital campaigns, corporate sponsorships, and planned giving.
Build and steward relationships with individual donors, foundations, corporations, and community partners.
Oversee donor communications, impact reporting, and recognition programs to ensure authentic engagement and transparency.
Collaborate with the operations and programs teams to align funding opportunities with community needs and measurable outcomes.
Community & Corporate Engagement
Develop and expand partnerships with local and regional businesses, food industry partners, civic groups, and faith communities.
Serve as a visible ambassador and advocate in the community, representing the organization at events, media opportunities, and public gatherings.
Ability to share compelling stories of impact and need.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and inspire the philanthropy team, fostering professional growth and accountability.
Build internal systems and metrics to track donor engagement, retention, and fundraising performance.
Model servant leadership by cultivating collaboration, trust, and respect across departments.
Board Partnership
Engage and support Board members in donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.
Provide timely reports and insights on fundraising results and trends.
Partner with the Development Committee to identify and cultivate new philanthropic opportunities.
