About The Position

The Director of Pharmacy will lead all aspects of pharmacy operations, including planning, organizing, and supervising services in alignment with hospital policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate with hospital leadership to implement innovative pharmacy practices, supported by proprietary CPS software, a dedicated support team including experts in operations, clinical, and regulatory as well as a CPS Area Director or Senior Vice President. This position is scheduled to work 40 hours per week, Monday thru Friday 8am to 4pm, with Telepharmacy coverage after hours and on the weekends. SUN Behavioral Health is a 197-bed psychiatric hospital in Erlanger, KY, 10 minutes south of Cincinnati, OH. The hospital was developed in partnership with St. Elizabeth Healthcare, the leading hospital system in northern Kentucky. We offer foundations for implementation of operational and clinical programs and policies and procedures to support hospital staff and patients over an entire continuum of pharmaceutical care. Our clients include acute care hospitals and health systems, hospital corporations, specialty hospitals-orthopedic, surgical, long-term acute care, and rehabilitation. The facility provides specialized care, including inpatient and day hospital services, for children, adolescents, adults and seniors suffering from mental health illness and substance use disorders. The Pharmacy hours are approximately 8-4 M-F, with Telepharmacy coverage after hours/weekends.

Requirements

  • ACPE-accredited pharmacy degree (BS or PharmD)
  • Active Kentucky Pharmacist license in good standing or ability to acquire
  • Successful completion of a PGY-1 residency
  • 2+ years of pharmacy management experience
  • Management experience in a healthcare/hospital environment
  • Proven ability to solve problems, establish trust and credibility
  • Demonstrated teaching, relevant professional publications and involvement with Professional organizations

  • Successful completion of a HSPAL PGY-2 Residency

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all pharmacy services within a single hospital, aligning operations with the hospital’s clinical, quality, and financial goals
  • Ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based medication use, overseeing clinical pharmacy practice, medication safety, and formulary management
  • Lead, develop, and hold accountability for pharmacy leadership and staff, including managers, pharmacists, technicians, and support teams
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and legal requirements, including Joint Commission, CMS, USP, BOP and state/federal laws
  • Oversee pharmacy financial performance, including budgeting, purchasing, contract management, and cost-containment initiatives
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and interdisciplinary stakeholders, supporting system-wide patient care, quality, and safety initiatives
  • Drive innovation, performance improvement, and strategic growth, leveraging data, technology, and best practices to advance pharmacy services
