About The Position

Rural Health Group is a thriving community health center in northeastern North Carolina. RHG is seeking a highly motivated, experienced and mission-driven Director of Pharmacy Services to lead and grow our pharmacy operations in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) environment. The Director of Pharmacy Services provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for all pharmacy services. This role ensures regulatory compliance, oversees pharmacy staff, supports 340B and medication assistance programs, and partners with executives to expand access to affordable, essential medications. As a Community Health Center, we see everyone - those with NC Medicaid, NC Health Choice, Medicare, private insurance, and the uninsured. RHG is a Federally Qualified Health Center and Patient Centered Medical Home dedicated to serving our region's underserved through: 15 FM/IM primary care offices plus pediatrics office, OB/GYN office, school based health center program, 3 dental offices, 4 in-house pharmacies and 340b pharmacy services, Integrated Behavioral Health - Psychologists and LCSWs, Case Management and RN ACO Care Managers, Community-Based Outreach Department, including Migrant/Seasonal Farm Worker, Infectious Disease, Cancer, Diabetes, etc. Our providers include: Family Physician, Internist, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Pediatrician, OB/GYN, CNM, Dentist, Clinical Pharmacist, Psychologist, and Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy and PharmD from an accredited program
  • Active North Carolina Board of Pharmacy license
  • Minimum 10 years of pharmacy management experience in FQHC or similar environment
  • 340B compliance experience required
  • PACE program knowledge and experience required
  • Possess knowledge of modern office equipment and Microsoft Office software programs
  • Strong computer skills required; must be able to quickly learn to use eClinicalWorks electronic health record system, pharmacy dispensing system, use email system regularly, etc.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem ‑solving skills required
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a potentially stressful environment
  • Commitment to patient ‑centered, culturally sensitive care
  • Pleasant, professional approach; must be able to work well with the public and provide excellent internal and external customer service
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective, professional relationships with patients, providers, subordinates, and superiors
  • Federal and State Criminal Background Checks and Drug Screen required for all positions
  • Influenza vaccine is also a condition of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty pharmacy experience preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage pharmacy staff (pharmacists, technicians, administrative employees) across multiple sites
  • Ensure compliance with NC BOP and federal pharmacy rules and regulations
  • Oversee pharmacy operations, to include optimizing workflows, managing inventory, spearheading quality improvement activities, and developing pharmacy policies for RHG, Senior TLC (PACE program), and Contract pharmacies
  • Serve as organizational lead for the 340B Prime Vendor Program
  • Support and advise the Medication Assistance Program (MAP)
  • Collaborate with IT, clinical, and administrative teams on systems and workflows
  • Manage department budget, monitor key performance indicators, and identify cost containment strategies
  • Guide pharmacy growth strategy within an FQHC setting
  • Other duties as assigned
