About The Position

The Director of People Operations is responsible for the operational, compliance, and regulatory integrity of the Human Resources function. This role ensures all people-related processes are accurate, compliant, efficient, and audit-ready across a multistate credit union environment. The Director serves as the primary owner of HR risk management and infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field required.
  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of employment law and HR compliance in a multistate environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working with regulators and auditors.
  • Strong leadership, judgment, and process design skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Financial services experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for payroll, benefits, retirement plans, and leave administration.
  • Oversee workers’ compensation, COBRA, unemployment, and related programs.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of all HR transactions.
  • Own HR data integrity, records management, and information security.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and lead implementation of required updates.
  • Serve as primary HR liaison for audits, exams, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Maintain policies, procedures, and employee/manager handbooks.
  • Oversee HR systems administration and process controls.
  • Develop metrics and reporting related to payroll accuracy, benefits administration, and compliance.
  • Partner with Finance and Legal on people-related risk and reporting needs.
  • Lead and develop HR operations staff.
  • Serve as a senior HR advisor on complex employee relations matters (process and risk perspective).
  • Support enterprise leadership with data-driven people operations insights.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
