About The Position

The Director of People and Culture is a key member of the Executive Leadership team, contributing to strategic and operational decisions for the Hotel. This role requires individuals who are adept problem solvers with strong business acumen, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated capacity for professionalism and adaptability. The ideal candidate will act as a catalyst for change, an advocate for employees, and possess a growth mindset. The position involves direct oversight of all People and Culture functions, including benefits administration, employee relations, recruitment and retention, visa administration, employee communications, employee housing, employee recognition, learning and development, compliance and audits, workers’ compensation, and legal matters concerning hotel employees. Occasional travel is expected for recruitment, task force assignments, and training opportunities.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a Director of People & Culture or Assistant Director of People & Culture role required, preferably within a luxury hotel environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree/4-year Degree is strongly preferred.
  • Human Resources, Educational, or Hospitality background is preferable, but not essential if applicants have previous relevant work experience.
  • Experience with HRIS and Payroll systems; Workday and ADP preferred.
  • Bilingual language skills; Spanish a plus.
  • A passion for service in Luxury Hospitality.
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to understand strategic financial planning and budgeting.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, conflict-resolution, and strategic-thinking skills.
  • Strong experience in Human Resources Leadership and Strategy, Employee Relations and Engagement, Talent Acquisition, Learning and Development, Labour Relations, and Total Rewards.
  • Exceptional communication skills, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the People and Culture division, including benefits administration, employee relations, talent acquisition and retention, staff communication, career development, wage & hour compliance, training, workers’ compensation, and legal matters.
  • Monitor staff performance, including reviewing disciplinary actions, recommending suspensions or terminations, and establishing a regular performance appraisal program.
  • Assess employee development and effectiveness at all levels, identify manpower needs through succession planning, and assist management with career planning and counseling.
  • Supervise financial aspects of the P&C budget, including benefits, labor & salary reports, and plan cost-effective events within budget guidelines.
  • Establish and implement recruitment, selection, placement, and pre-employment procedures in line with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts policy and applicable laws, including hiring, staffing guides, and compensation guidelines.
  • Analyze hotel training and development needs at all levels and create or coordinate programs to ensure employees are proficient in delivering core and culture standards, preparing them for internal promotion.
  • Play an active role in Wellness programs and lead successful Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging initiatives.
  • Balance strategic and tactical requirements with a high degree of integrity for employee heart of the house spaces.
