About The Position

Oregon State Credit Union is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Payment Services to lead its payment operations and money movement services. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for various payment channels including ACH processing, wire transfers, check processing, mobile deposits, person-to-person payments, and account-to-account transfers. The Director will partner with the Vice President of Cards and Payment Services to drive operational excellence, regulatory compliance, service quality, innovation, and risk management. A key aspect of this role is leading a high-performing team to support an exceptional member experience and actively supporting the credit union movement through political advocacy.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience leading payment operations within a financial institution, including ACH, wire transfers, electronic payments, settlements, reconciliations, exception processing, and operational controls.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategies that improve efficiency, scalability, service quality, and member experience while aligning with organizational objectives.
  • Extensive knowledge of payment systems, regulatory requirements, fraud prevention practices, operational risk management, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to establish strong internal controls, oversee audits and examinations, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations, including BSA/AML/OFAC requirements.
  • Minimum of five years of management experience with demonstrated success developing leaders, coaching employees, fostering accountability, and building high-performing teams.
  • Ability to lead change, support succession planning, drive performance, and cultivate a collaborative, service-focused culture.
  • Strong analytical, business, and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate operational performance, identify trends and risks, leverage reporting and data insights, and make informed decisions that enhance operational effectiveness and support strategic objectives.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in financial institution operations, payment services, treasury services, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum five years of management experience required.
  • Ability to demonstrate the legal right to work in the US.
  • Pass a background screening to the satisfaction of Oregon State Credit Union.

  • Experience managing vendor relationships and third-party service providers.
  • Experience utilizing payment processing platforms, reporting tools, and payment technologies.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills.
