About The Position

The Director of Patient Safety and Performance Improvement is accountable for the operational execution of Singing River Health System’s QAPI program, translating strategic priorities into coordinated, system-wide improvement that delivers measurable and sustained results. This hands-on leader integrates quality, safety, and performance improvement into daily operations, ensuring rigorous use of improvement science, effective patient safety event management, and alignment of efforts across the care continuum. The Director partners with clinical, operational, analytics, and risk leaders to reduce harm, eliminate variation, and build a culture of safety, learning, and accountability. Expectation is for all performed duties to be in accordance with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation organization, and governing guidance and publications for health care employees.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Mississippi
  • De-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days)
  • Appropriate level of de-escalation training
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ clinical nursing, management, and leadership experience required
  • Experience in quality program implementation
  • Strong working knowledge of improvement science
  • Patient safety program management are required
  • Proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word
  • Ability to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgment and apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages

Nice To Haves

  • An advanced degree in a related field preferred
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ acute care clinical experience evidenced by a broad base of clinical knowledge preferred
