The Division of Undergraduate Education and Student Success (UESS) is committed to ensuring that every undergraduate student at the University of Oregon has the support needed to thrive academically and graduate on time. UESS departments and programs include: Exploring Advising, Transfer Advising, PathwayOregon, TRIO Student Support Services, Center for Multicultural Academic Excellence (CMAE), the Accessible Education Center (AEC), Center for Undergraduate Research and Engagement (CURE), Office of Distinguished Scholarships (ODS), McNair Scholars Program, Academic Residential Communities (ARCs), First-Year Interest Groups (FIGs), Student Academy to Inspire Learning (SAIL), Tutoring and Academic Engagement Center (TAEC), and UESS Administration. PathwayOregon is the University of Oregon’s promise of full tuition and fees and comprehensive support for lower-income Oregonians. The program serves over 2,600 undergraduates reflecting a diversity of backgrounds, including first-generation, low-income, rural and underrepresented students. PathwayOregon aims to help students meet their individual graduation goals while increasing lower income student retention and graduation rates overall. Participating students receive financial funding and are connected to a dedicated team of advisors who provide holistic wraparound support. The Director of PathwayOregon reports to the Assistant Vice Provost for Advising (AVPA) and is a member of the UESS leadership team. The Director is primarily responsible for overseeing the PathwayOregon program, including direct supervision of professional advisor staff and administration of day-to-day operations. The Director sets the strategic direction for the program’s comprehensive advising support of PathwayOregon award recipients, ensuring alignment with the needs of low-income, first-generation and underrepresented student populations. Student Financial Aid and Scholarships is a critical partner to the success of PathwayOregon and the Director will actively collaborate to develop and maintain shared polices and practices for effective advising, award administration, and support of student retention and degree attainment. The Director works collaboratively with the PathwayOregon advising team to provide holistic wraparound support to over 2600 undergraduate award recipients, including academic advising, financial literacy, peer mentoring, career preparation, and proactive outreach. The Director oversees the management of student participant data, annual reporting and program evaluation, and implementation of data-driven practices. To ensure effective administration of program, the Director maintains and enhances partnerships with other campus units, including Admissions, Student Orientation Programs, University Housing and University Advancement. The Director provides campus-wide leadership in equitable advising, degree progress and data-driven best practices to promote retention and graduation of historically underserved students. In concert with the AVPAS, the Director works collaboratively with campus partners to reduce barriers, hone shared practices and improve student support systems. The Director is a key member of UESS Leadership Team and, serves on divisional and university-wide committees. The Director must exhibit professionalism, collegiality in a team environment, and the ability to create a welcoming, inclusive, accessible, and professional atmosphere in the office. This person must exhibit cultural humility and agility, with the ability and commitment to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. The Director will develop a team that can support a variety of students with diverse academic interests, abilities, and cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds.
