About The Position

The Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind (CSDB) is seeking an innovative and collaborative leader to serve as Director of Outreach. This executive leadership position provides strategic direction and operational oversight for CSDB's statewide Outreach and Early Education Programs. The Director of Outreach leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of services supporting children who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Blind, Visually Impaired, or DeafBlind throughout Colorado. This position works collaboratively with school districts, BOCES, charter schools, families, community partners, and state agencies to ensure equitable access to high-quality educational services. As a member of CSDB's executive leadership team, the Director serves as a strategic visionary and systems leader responsible for aligning people, programs, resources, and organizational priorities while fostering innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Educational Leadership, Special Education, Public Administration, Human Services, or a closely related field.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in education, special education, outreach services, or program administration.
  • Experience supervising professional staff.
  • Experience managing budgets, strategic initiatives, or organizational operations.
  • Must successfully pass a background investigation.
  • Must possess or obtain a valid Colorado Driver License.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) at the Intermediate skill level.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or higher.
  • Colorado Principal, Administrator, or Director License.
  • Experience working with Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Blind, Visually Impaired, or DeafBlind populations.
  • Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, ADA, and special education law.
  • Experience working with statewide educational systems or public agencies.
  • Fluency in or working knowledge of American Sign Language.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership for CSDB's statewide Outreach and Early Education Programs.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives aligned with CSDB's mission and organizational priorities.
  • Lead, supervise, mentor, and evaluate Outreach administrators and staff.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets and resources.
  • Foster collaborative partnerships with school districts, BOCES, state agencies, families, and community organizations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and grant requirements.
  • Utilize data to evaluate program effectiveness and guide continuous improvement.
  • Promote inclusive leadership, organizational culture, and workforce development.
  • Support statewide professional development and technical assistance.
  • Represent CSDB at local, state, and national meetings.
