About The Position

The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operational activities within the telecommunications division, ensuring efficient execution of projects, optimal resource allocation, and high-quality service delivery. This role drives operational strategy, manages field teams, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards while meeting business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8–12+ years of experience in telecommunications operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong background in telecom construction (fiber, coax, wireless, or tower work preferred).
  • Proven experience managing large teams and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations, safety standards, and permitting processes.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and P&L management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with fiber deployment (FTTH, backbone, splicing, etc.)
  • Familiarity with project management tools and telecom systems (GIS, CRM, ERP)
  • Lean or Six Sigma experience is a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all telecom operations, including construction, installation, maintenance, and service delivery.
  • Oversee field operations teams (e.g., technicians, crew leads, subcontractors) to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency, productivity, and profitability.
  • Monitor project performance, KPIs, and financial metrics; take corrective action as needed.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align operational goals with company objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards (OSHA, local/state requirements).
  • Manage vendor and subcontractor relationships, including performance tracking and contract compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across processes, systems, and workforce performance.
  • Oversee workforce planning, hiring, training, and development of operations staff.
  • Resolve escalated operational issues, including client concerns and project delays.
  • Support business development efforts by providing operational insight on bids, proposals, and project feasibility.
