About The Position

The Director of Operations provides strategic leadership and direct oversight for all warehouse and logistics operations supporting CJ Pony Parts' distribution network. This role is responsible for the performance and execution of receiving, inventory management, order fulfillment, shipping, transportation management, and freight logistics across all CJPP distribution facilities. The Director of Operations ensures operational excellence by driving service performance, cost control, productivity improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout all distribution and logistics functions. This position is responsible for aligning operational strategy with company objectives while ensuring efficient and scalable operations that support CJ Pony Parts' growth and customer service commitments. This is a hands-on role requiring regularly performing warehouse tasks.

Requirements

7-10 years of related warehouse management experience in a distribution and e-commerce environment.
Previous experience within a transportation management and/or warehouse distribution role.
Previous experience with WMS software and best inventory practices.
Previous experience using Reporting software, Excel, and/or ERP software.
Ability to travel to all warehouse locations, including Harrisburg, PA, Las Vegas, NV and Cookeville, TN. Travel 1-2 times per quarter.

Responsibilities

Responsible for a 7 day per week multi-shift warehouse and logistics operation, requiring flexibility in work schedule to ensure operational continuity and leadership presence when needed.
Provide strategic leadership for all CJ Pony Parts warehouse and logistics operations, including receiving, inventory management, order fulfillment, shipping, transportation management, and distribution network performance.
Own operational performance across all CJPP warehouse locations, ensuring operations consistently meet or exceed company KPI goals for service, cost, productivity, and quality.
Develop, lead, and communicate organizational and operational goals and objectives that align with the company's strategic direction and growth initiatives.
Lead and develop operations managers and departmental leaders, ensuring consistent leadership standards, accountability, and alignment with company values and operational expectations.
Establish and maintain strong communication and operational alignment between all CJ Pony Parts warehouse locations and operations teams.
Utilize analytics and operational reporting to drive data-based decision-making and identify opportunities to improve productivity, cost efficiency, throughput, and customer service performance.
Analyze raw operational data including labor metrics, forecasting, productivity, inventory movement, and order fulfillment performance to identify trends and develop actionable improvement plans.
Develop, manage, and deliver the monthly and annual operations budget including labor, transportation, packaging, supplies, and operational expenses.
Maintain accountability for operational financial performance including cost control, productivity improvements, and efficient resource utilization to support company profitability goals.
Develop and present monthly operational metrics to leadership, highlighting key KPIs, financial performance, operational risks, and improvement initiatives.
Oversee transportation and logistics strategy including parcel, LTL, and inbound freight operations to ensure optimal service levels and cost efficiency.
Manage carrier relationships and lead freight negotiations to maintain competitive pricing structures, reliable service levels, and long-term strategic partnerships.
Coordinate inbound freight scheduling including domestic shipments and inbound containers to ensure effective inventory flow and warehouse capacity utilization.
Audit shipping and logistics activities, including freight costs, parcel service performance, employee productivity, and shipping accuracy, to maintain operational standards and cost discipline.
Manage corrugated packaging evaluation, negotiation, and procurement strategies to support cost efficiency and operational effectiveness.
Develop logistics systems and operational processes for product handling, transportation, storage, and equipment utilization to maximize operational efficiency and scalability.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives across warehouse and logistics operations by evaluating workflow, workforce utilization, facility layout, and technology solutions.
Evaluate warehouse design, product flow, and material handling systems to improve operational efficiency, throughput, safety, and scalability of operations.
Identify and lead automation, technology, and systems improvement initiatives, including WMS, ERP enhancements, warehouse automation, and analytics platforms that improve operational performance and visibility.
Lead operational planning initiatives, including facility capacity planning, operational scalability, and infrastructure improvements necessary to support company growth.
Partner with executive leadership to develop long-term operational strategies that support CJ Pony Parts' growth, customer service goals, and operational efficiency.
Ensure effective collaboration between operations and other business functions, including purchasing, customer service, IT, finance, and marketing, to support company objectives.
Partner with Human Resources to accomplish warehouse operations human resource objectives, including recruiting, onboarding, training, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and employee development.
Communicate clear job expectations and performance standards while monitoring employee performance, conducting reviews, and implementing development plans for operational leaders.
Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, engagement, and professional growth with a goal of maintaining workforce retention below industry turnover benchmarks.
Establish and maintain a safe and compliant work environment by enforcing safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies across all operational locations.
Oversee vendor relationships and operational partnerships to ensure reliability, service quality, and alignment with company operational objectives.
Support company-wide initiatives and cross-functional projects that improve operational performance, customer experience, and business scalability.
