About The Position

The Director of Operations will be responsible for planning, directing, and managing multiple construction projects from start to finish. This role involves overseeing project schedules, budgets, quality standards, and subcontractor performance. The Director will also lead and mentor project managers, site supervisors, and field staff, promoting a culture of safety and accountability. Key responsibilities include managing project budgets, financial reporting, fleet oversight, scheduling, resource allocation, safety compliance, quality control, client communication, process improvement, and reporting to senior leadership.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of experience in civil construction in a leadership role
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Word, Excel, Outlook, and expense management required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and manage multiple construction projects from start to finish, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Review project schedules, budgets, and progress to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure contract compliance.
  • Resolve conflicts, delays, or operational challenges as they arise.
  • Supervise and support superintendents, and field staff; provide coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop project managers, site supervisors, and field staff.
  • Allocate resources, assign responsibilities, and monitor performance of construction teams.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and accountability across all operations.
  • Help manage project budgets, cost controls, and profitability targets.
  • Review contracts, bids, and change orders.
  • Work closely with accounting and executive teams on financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Strategic planning, coordination, maintenance, safety, compliance, and optimization of a company’s vehicles and heavy equipment.
  • Coordinate labor, equipment, and materials to maximize productivity; resolve conflicts and ensure optimal use of resources.
  • Enforce company and regulatory safety policies; conduct regular site visits and safety audits.
  • Oversee quality assurance processes to meet specifications and client expectations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers; ensure regular updates and resolve issues promptly.
  • Evaluate operational workflows; implement best practices, technology, and training to improve efficiency.
  • Prepare regular project status reports and present updates to senior leadership.
