About The Position

USA Jet Power, established in 2022 by USA Jet Airlines, is a 14 CFR Part 145 Air Agency Repair Station located in Oscoda, Michigan. It specializes in the maintenance, inspection, and testing of Pratt and Whitney JT8D turbofan engines used on Boeing 727, 737, Douglas DC-9, and MD88 aircraft. The facility is a 51,000 sq ft state-of-the-art building supporting engine repair operations and parts warehousing. Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of engine production.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in aircraft engine maintenance.
5 years supervisory experience or 5 years of demonstrated inspection and/or production department management ability.
Repairman Certificate or A&P (Powerplant) certification.
Knowledge of all applicable regulatory requirements.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
Must be able to remain calm during adverse conditions.
Must be able to think and react quickly with a sense of urgency to time-sensitive problem situations.
Detailed organizational skills.
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
Walk, stand, reach/handle items, work with their hands, lift and/or move items 10-20 pounds, talk and hear others in conversations via the phone or in person.
Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, lift and/or move items up 20-50 pounds.
Must be able to travel on short notice to perform line maintenance and/or aircraft recovery/repairs.
Must have a valid passport within 90 days of hire.
Must possess the minimum tools as outlined on departmental tool list.
Must be able to complete the TSA Security Training Program.
Must be able to successfully pass an initial, and random, Drug and Alcohol screening process.
Must be able to successfully pass a Fingerprint Based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and/or Security Threat Assessment (STA).

Nice To Haves

Computer software knowledge of key Microsoft Office platforms including Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.

Responsibilities

Directly responsible to the Accountable Manager for engine maintenance processes, production, and material departments, ensuring repairs meet budgeted time and USA JET, FAA, and customer quality standards.
Supervises all production, stockroom, and material management positions.
Ensures continuous and productive coordination and communication between Maintenance and Production Planning personnel.
Provides adequate training, equipment, materials, and competent personnel to comply with Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and manufacturers’ recommendations.
Establishes procedures for new hire and recurrent training.
Trains and assists subordinates in proper work procedures and practices.
Responsible for the continuous improvement of quality, cost, safety, and on-time delivery of shop work.
Ensures necessary maintenance entries for engine processing are properly executed by responsible aircraft maintenance technicians (AMTs).
Ensures work accomplished outside the facility adheres to manufacturer and company quality standards.
Maintains preservation of all units or parts during work process, installation, and storage.
Ensures proper handling of parts during the repair process and upon completion.
Ensures proper handling and preservation of all engine material during the work process, installation, and storage.
Communicates with customers to discuss progress reports, review man-hours, and explain discrepancies.
Updates the Work In Progress (WIP) report daily, weekly, and monthly on the status of engines, modules, and piece parts.
Reports obstacles affecting cycle time or financial results for each service order.
Available during off-shift hours to communicate and coordinate with Shift Leads.
Conducts production meetings for materials and production personnel.
Provides training and assistance to production and material staff on proper procedures, methods, and practices.
Ensures production and materials department personnel meet or exceed engine center quality standards.
Maintains the repair station premises in a clean and orderly manner.
Ensures the facility, shop tools, and related equipment are maintained in serviceable working condition.
Observes and enforces safety precautions.
Maintains subordinates' compliance with duty time limitations, ensuring a twenty-four-hour break within a calendar month.
Ensures production functions are performed as outlined in the engine shop manual.
Participates and assists with the selection, evaluation, and discipline of department employees.
Actively participates in the USA Jet Power Safety Program, reporting safety concerns, ensuring safe work practices, and following Occupational Safety and Health organization standards.
Performs other duties as required by the Accountable Manager.
