About The Position

The Director of Operations is a strategic and systems-oriented leader responsible for overseeing the internal infrastructure, risk management, and operational efficiency of Wu Yee Children's Services. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, you will ensure that the organization's physical environments, facilities and administrative systems are robust, compliant, and aligned with our mission to serve the San Francisco community. This role requires a sophisticated blend of leadership, vendor management expertise, and data-driven decision-making to optimize daily functioning and foster agency-wide productivity.

Requirements

  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in operations management, facilities management, or nonprofit leadership, with a proven track record of managing multi-site facilities and diverse teams.
  • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Masterful ability to manage external contractors, negotiate complex service contracts, and hold partners accountable to performance metrics.
  • Advanced skills in office productivity suites, operational management tools and project software like Asana, Zendesk, Office 365, and Google Workspace.
  • Deep understanding of facilities management, licensing requirements (Title 22, ADA), and building/fire codes in an urban environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills to interface effectively with senior management, staff, and external stakeholders.

  • Experience with government contracts and compliance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction, guidance, and support to the Operations team, including the Facilities Operations Project Manager, Operations Coordinator, and Office Manager.
  • Oversee the relationship with a primary consolidated facilities vendor providing janitorial, maintenance, and security services across all agency sites to ensure high-quality delivery and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead the development and implementation of agency-wide operational policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline workflows and dismantle departmental silos.
  • Oversee the maintenance, security, and safety of multiple program sites; manage lease agreements, evaluate long-term facility needs, and ensure all environments meet Title 22 licensing and Head Start standards.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks; oversee agency commercial insurance policies and renewals, and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Manage the operations budget, forecast operational needs, and analyze financial reports to identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize resource allocation.
  • Partner with the Operations Project Manager and internal department heads (IT, HR, Programs) to ensure critical infrastructure projects, such as the 2026 administrative office relocation, integrate seamlessly with daily operations.
