Director of Operations, Project Delivery

Bravas•Houston, TX
•$125,000 - $145,000

About The Position

The Director of Operations, Project Delivery sets standards for project management across BRAVAS locations, overseeing the methodology from contract through procurement, scheduling, installation, programming, commissioning, and handoff to Service. Reporting to the VP of Operations, this leader will establish a scalable project management methodology in D-Tools, train Project Managers to use it, and measure its effectiveness. This is a multi-site leadership position based on influence and collaboration. Project teams report to local General Managers, who partner with the Director to implement consistent processes and tools while addressing local needs. The Director will initially apply the playbook to large, complex signature projects before expanding it company-wide.

Requirements

  • Track record delivering projects valued at $1M or more, with ownership of schedule, budget, and client relationships.

  • 3+ years leading, coaching, and developing Project Managers, directly or through a PMO.
  • Strong command of construction project controls and ability to read drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and training skills, with the presence to lead difficult conversations with general contractors, designers, and homeowners.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Willingness to travel 40–50%, including extended time on major projects in the first year.

  • Familiarity with Crestron, Savant, Control4, or Lutron.
  • PMP certification; CCM, AVIXA CTS/CTS-I, CEDIA, Lean construction, or OSHA 30 credentials are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a standard project management methodology, including processes, templates, quality checkpoints, and documentation, in partnership with General Managers, Project Managers, and Operations leadership.

  • Define project tiers and the associated planning, controls, staffing, and reporting for each tier.
  • Map the full project lifecycle, specifying roles, milestones, and handoffs, and recommend Project Manager assignment rules, particularly for large projects outside a location's home market.
  • Work directly on high-risk signature projects to stabilize schedules, budgets, and communication and refine the project management playbook.
  • Develop Project Manager training programs and competency levels within the BRAVAS Core Skills Framework; advise General Managers on Project Manager hiring and development.
  • Lead project health reviews, join site visits, and coach Project Managers through complex and at-risk projects.
  • Strengthen the sales-to-execution handoff with Sales and Design so projects begin with clear scope, budget, and margin.
  • Partner with Finance to drive project financial discipline, including budgets, labor forecasting, change orders, billing milestones, and cost-to-complete tracking.
  • Standardize project closeout and transition to Service.
  • Make D-Tools the system of record, partnering with IT on configuration and NetSuite integration.
  • Build Project Manager performance reporting and KPIs, including schedule adherence, margin and margin fade, change order capture, billing, punch-list closure, and client satisfaction.
  • Run lessons-learned reviews and build a cross-branch Project Manager community of practice.
