About The Position

RPG is seeking a Director of Operations to lead and scale our Maintenance, Modifications & Construction (MMC) business line across nuclear, fossil, and industrial markets. This role is responsible for full operational ownership, execution, people, financial performance, and customer relationships with a strong emphasis on delivering complex field work safely, on schedule, and at the highest level of quality. This is a hands-on leadership role. The right candidate understands how maintenance and construction gets done in the field, knows how to build and lead teams, and can translate strategy into execution without losing control of cost, schedule, or quality. The Director of Operations - MMC is accountable for the planning, execution, and performance of all MMC work scopes. This includes oversight of site managers, superintendents, and field teams supporting maintenance, modification, and construction activities across client sites. This leader will drive consistency in execution, strengthen field accountability, and ensure alignment between operations, safety, quality, and commercial objectives.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in maintenance, modifications, and/or construction within nuclear, power generation, or heavy industrial environments
  • Proven leadership experience managing multiple projects and field teams simultaneously
  • Strong understanding of outage work, online maintenance, and capital modification projects
  • Demonstrated ability to manage P&L performance, including cost, schedule, and productivity
  • Experience working within highly regulated environments (nuclear preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of field execution disciplines (specific experience working with Union Craft)
  • Ability to lead through influence, drive accountability, and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills; able to engage both executive leadership and field personnel

Responsibilities

  • Own the safe and successful execution of all MMC projects across assigned regions and clients
  • Lead and develop Site Managers, Superintendents, and field leadership
  • Drive schedule adherence, cost control, and overall project performance (manhours, productivity, margins)
  • Ensure work is executed in accordance with client procedures, regulatory requirements, and RPG quality standards
  • Establish clear operational expectations and hold teams accountable to performance metrics
  • Partner with Safety and Quality to reinforce human performance, first-time quality, and strong field behaviors
  • Support business development through client engagement, scope development, and proposal input
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with utility and industrial clients
  • Identify risks early and drive recovery plans when performance deviates
  • Standardize execution practices across projects while allowing flexibility for site-specific requirements
  • Collaborate with Talent and Recruiting to ensure proper staffing, workforce planning, and pipeline development
  • Collaborate with Finance – payroll and accounts – to ensure accurate and timely pay, invoicing, and reporting
  • Provide regular operational reporting to executive leadership with clear, fact-based updates
