About The Position

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Anesthesiology seek a Director of Obstetric Anesthesiology qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV. This academic leadership role is responsible for advancing clinical excellence, education, research, and quality improvement initiatives within obstetric anesthesia services. The Director will provide strategic oversight of labor and delivery anesthesiology services, develop and implement clinical protocols and quality initiatives, and collaborate closely with Obstetrics & Gynecology, Neonatology, Nursing, and hospital leadership to ensure high-quality, safe, and patient-centered care. The role includes administrative leadership such as staffing and resource management, as well as active participation in clinical care, including high-risk obstetric cases. The Director will also lead and support educational programs for residents, fellows, and medical students, mentor faculty and trainees, and contribute to curriculum development. In addition, the Director will promote and engage in scholarly activity, including clinical or translational research, and represent the division at institutional and national levels.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent.
  • Eligible for state medical license.
  • Completed an anesthesiology residency program.
  • Board certified / eligible in Anesthesiology.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
