About The Position
The Director of Nursing (DON) is a key leadership role responsible for shaping the care experience for long-term-care residents and guiding and supporting nursing staff. The DON oversees nursing services, ensures compliance with company, state, and federal guidelines, and promotes consistent, high-quality care. The role also involves managing nursing staff, maintaining accurate resident records, collaborating on individualized care plans, and ensuring staff have the resources they need.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with the State of Texas.
- Proven leadership experience in long-term care or geriatric nursing.
- Strong clinical skills and a restorative care approach.
- Knowledge of nursing home regulations and compliance standards.
- Strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Oversee nursing services in accordance with company, state, and federal guidelines.
- Manage recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and performance of nursing staff.
- Assist with direct care on the floor when needed to maintain consistent, high-quality care.
- Approve payroll submissions for accuracy and compliance.
- Monitor resident records for accuracy and appropriate documentation.
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans.
- Ensure nursing staff have timely access to equipment and necessary supplies.
- Lead, mentor, and support nursing staff to improve performance and outcomes.
