About The Position

The Director of Nursing (DON) is a leadership role responsible for shaping the care experience for residents and guiding and supporting nursing staff with professionalism, integrity, and clinical excellence. The DON oversees nursing services and ensures they comply with company, state, and federal guidelines. The role includes managing nursing staff, supporting direct care when needed, maintaining resident records, collaborating on individualized care plans, and ensuring staff have necessary equipment and supplies.

Requirements

Hold a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing with the State of Texas.
Have proven leadership experience in long-term care or geriatric nursing.
Possess strong clinical skills and a restorative care approach.
Demonstrate knowledge of nursing home regulations and compliance standards.
Have strong organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Oversee nursing services in accordance with company, state, and federal guidelines.
Manage recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and performance of nursing staff.
Assist with direct care on the floor when needed to maintain consistent, high-quality care.
Approve payroll submissions for accuracy and compliance.
Monitor resident records for accuracy and appropriate documentation.
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans.
Ensure nursing staff have timely access to equipment and necessary supplies.
Lead, mentor, and support nursing staff to improve performance and outcomes.
