About The Position

We are seeking an exceptional, visionary nursing leader to serve as Director of Nursing for Pediatric Acute Care Services, providing strategic and operational oversight for multiple high-acuity inpatient units, including a 72-bed Medical Unit, 34-bed Surgical Unit, 28-bed Neuroscience Unit, and a 24-bed Multispecialty Unit. These units care for a diverse and complex pediatric population and support growing specialty programs such as Epilepsy Monitoring (EMU), Palliative Care, Hematology/Oncology, Metabolic Disorders, trauma, surgical services, eating disorders, and children with complex medical needs. This environment demands clinical excellence, innovation, and strong interdisciplinary collaboration. The ideal candidate is a results-driven leader with a proven track record of improving patient outcomes, advancing quality and safety, and elevating the patient and family experience. This individual will foster a highly engaged workforce by building strong teams, improving staff satisfaction and retention, and mentoring future nurse leaders through intentional development and succession planning. With strong project management capability, this leader will successfully drive complex initiatives, implement sustainable improvements, and partner with physicians and executive leadership to advance program growth and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in a clinical specialty.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a nursing management position.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Registered Nursing.
  • Master's of Science in Nursing or related field.
  • Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards.
  • Ability to care with sensitivity and respect.
  • Ability to advance care through development of new ideas and technology.
  • Ability to promote teamwork.
  • Ability to understand and exceed customer expectations.
  • Knowledge of Family-Centered Care Concepts and Quality Improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrated skill in collaborating with medical staff, allied health professionals, peers and staff.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities concurrently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully provide/promote safe care within the parameters of licensure and regulatory requirements, practice requirements and hospital systems.
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills and proven ability to effectively lead teams to consensus.
  • Budgeting, variance tracking and productivity monetary.
  • Working knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office Suite e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
  • Registered Nurse – CA (RN).

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years of nursing management experience within the clinical area of an acute facility.
  • Experience with budget and productivity systems.
  • Eligible for the ANCC Administrative certification.
