About The Position
A growing, multi-site home healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing to lead clinical operations across the Downstate region. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for ensuring exceptional patient care, maintaining regulatory compliance, developing nursing staff, and driving operational excellence across a large clinical team. The Director of Nursing will oversee Registered Nurses, Clinical Coordinators, and caregiver training while partnering closely with executive leadership on quality initiatives, audits, staffing strategy, and process improvement. This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on nursing leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys building high-performing clinical teams.
Requirements
- Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- BSN required
- Minimum 5 years of nursing experience, including significant home care or community health experience
- At least 2 years of nursing leadership experience managing clinical teams
- Strong knowledge of New York home care regulations, DOH requirements, accreditation standards, and quality assurance
- Experience hiring, mentoring, and developing nurses and clinical staff
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Proficient with EMR systems and Microsoft Office
- Collaborative leader with excellent clinical judgment and problem-solving abilities

- MSN or Master's in Healthcare Administration preferred
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day nursing operations across the Downstate region
- Recruit, onboard, train, and develop Registered Nurses and Clinical Coordinators
- Ensure appropriate clinical staffing and workload distribution
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and ongoing staff development
- Oversee caregiver education, competency programs, and in-service training
- Maintain compliance with NYS Department of Health regulations, accreditation standards, and agency policies
- Lead internal audits, investigate incidents, and implement corrective action plans
- Oversee complaint resolution and regulatory follow-up
- Review clinical documentation to ensure quality and compliance
- Partner with Human Resources, Coordination, and Operations to improve clinical workflows
- Support regulatory surveys, audits, emergency preparedness planning, and quality improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with executive leadership on high-risk clinical matters and strategic operational initiatives
