The Director of Nursing plans, organizes, develops, and directs community clinical and medication programs in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act and within standards of clinical practice as defined by the American Nurses Association. This role informs and collaborates with the Executive Director regarding clinical concerns and compliance issues, making recommendations for resolution. The Director of Nursing serves as a clinical resource for community staff, provides nursing care to residents, including health assessments, care plan completion and review, discussing changes in resident condition with physicians, and implementing interventions to reduce falls. They also provide medication administration and assist with resident care as needed. This position is accountable for timely assessments and accurate care plans in the electronic health record, and for communicating with the Business Office Manager regarding additional care for accurate resident billing. A working knowledge of state regulations, policies, and procedures for compliance is essential. The role requires the ability to work on-call for any shift as needed.
