About The Position
The Director of Nursing provides leadership to the Healthcare Department to ensure that Tandem Living’s standards, policies, and procedures are upheld, and that supportive, person-directed care is consistently delivered. This position will be performed in accordance with TANDEM LIVING Core Values, Mission Statement, and regulations.
Requirements
- Current Pennsylvania license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
- Five (5) years of experience as an RN Charge Nurse/Supervisor or previous DON experience, preferably in a CCRC.
- Basic computer skills required; proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook.
- Maintains current, in-person, American Heart Association–approved hands-on BLS certification.
Responsibilities
- Develops written policies, procedures, and standards, with particular attention to quality-of-life and quality-of-care issues.
- Clearly communicates these policies and standards to all nursing staff and ensures follow-through using appropriate accountability measures.
- Performs key management functions, including interviewing prospective employees; monitoring the performance appraisal process; resolving staff concerns in consultation with the Director of HR; addressing morale issues; monitoring Trillium Place staffing needs; addressing turnover concerns; conducting monthly RN, LPN, and CNA meetings; ensuring appropriate RN supervision; maintaining high visibility; providing budget input with attention to cost-containment; and maintaining all required departmental documentation.
- Addresses significant family concerns, issues, or problems in consultation with the Nursing Home Administrator (NHA).
- Strategically plans, prioritizes, organizes, implements, and delegates responsibilities with a high degree of accuracy, ensuring attention to both quality of care and quality of life.
- Establishes antibiotic stewardship standards to ensure antibiotics are prescribed only when appropriate.
- Coordinates with the Antibiotic Stewardship Task Force, Infection Prevention, and physicians regarding policies and procedures related to antibiotic use.
