About The Position

The Director of Nursing role in our Cherry Hill, NJ surgery center will involve both clinical and administrative duties. This position requires supervisory experience as you will oversee the nursing staff. Center hours are Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with some flexibility on start time. The role is responsible for coordinating facility operations and patient procedures to ensure the provision of quality patient care in accordance with organization policies. This includes providing nursing support, assisting with staffing, staff training, equipment management, physician and patient relations, cost containment, supply management, medical records, patient billing, OSHA compliance, and all other company, state, and federal compliance.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (R.N.)
Current appropriate state licensure and ACLS certification.
Minimum of three years' experience preferred in an Office Based Surgical Center/Vascular Access Lab, surgical, Interventional Radiology and ICU/CCU experience.
Minimum of three years of Interventional Radiology, scrub experience preferred.
Supervisory or management experience within a medical or vascular access environment preferred.
Proficiency with the Microsoft office suite is necessary.
Experience with Medical database software.
Demonstrated management skills necessary to provide leadership and supervision of facility personnel and to ensure the delivery of maximum quality care to all patients.
Good communication skills - verbal and written.
Certified in BLS & ACLS successfully completed course certifications.

Responsibilities

Supporting and driving organization quality standards through meeting regulatory requirements and the practice of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).
Ensuring outstanding quality of patient care by working with management to ensure organizational policies and procedures are followed.
Aggressively addressing and acting on adverse events and action thresholds.
Complying with all data collections and auditing activities and maintaining the integrity of medical records and other administrative and operational records.
Supervising and directing facility staff in providing safe and effective vascular access procedures in compliance with standards and regulations.
Assigning and delegating tasks to all direct patient care staff.
Ensuring adequate staffing through daily management of staff's schedule, including breaks.
Assessing daily patient needs and developing/distributing patient care assignments appropriately.
Routinely monitoring patient care staff for appropriate techniques and adherence to facility policy and procedures.
Recommending and initiating disciplinary action in conjunction with the Facility Manager.
Assisting Facility Manager with staff performance evaluations.
Participating in selection, orientation, and training of staff.
Performing and setting up in-services regarding equipment, supplies, and clinical topics for all staff.
Coordinating all aspects of patient care with appropriate staff members, from admission through discharge.
Ensuring patients and their families are educated regarding pre and post procedure care.
Ensuring patient procedures are scheduled in a timely manner and facility capacity is utilized efficiently.
Assisting with patient workflow, including providing direct patient care and monitoring pre, intra, and post procedure as needed.
Overseeing and ensuring accurate and complete documentation of patient treatments from admission to discharge.
Confirming written orders, consents, and lab work are completed and documented in accordance with facility policies.
Assuming primary responsibility in an emergency situation and maintaining competency with all emergency operational procedures.
Administering medications and IV conscious sedation to patients as directed per physician's orders and in compliance with regulations.
Attending and participating in Governing Body and CQI meetings with physicians.
Ensuring appropriate operation of facility equipment and technology.
Maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in the facility at all times.
Ensuring all blood spills are immediately addressed according to the organization Bloodborne Pathogen Control Policies.
Participating in cost control initiatives and ensuring efficient utilization of resources.
Assisting in the development and revision of applicable policies and procedures for the facility.
Initiating, documenting, and completing ongoing Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
Managing medications, including ordering, receiving, inventory control, and checking for expired medications.
Overseeing maintenance of usage logs for all medications and records of drug disposal.
Communicating with the pharmacist to assure medication accuracy.
Ensuring medical records are accurate, complete, and in compliance with organization policies and procedures prior to discharge.
Participating in all facility regulatory and accreditation surveys and action plans.
Verifying records for all implanted devices are completed accurately, timely, and maintained according to records management guidelines.
Acting as the Facility Manager in the absence of the manager or at the direction of organization management.
Complying with HIPPA policies and standards regarding patient information and medical records.
Maintaining CLIA license with Facility Administrator.
Performing other duties as assigned, within the scope of practice and state regulations.
