Director of Nursing, Behavioral Health
About The Position
Signet Health is seeking a dynamic, experienced Director of Nursing to lead a 24-bed adult inpatient psychiatric unit and oversee behavioral health nursing services in the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and the behavioral health area of the Emergency Department at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton, Maryland. The Director of Nursing is a key member of the behavioral health leadership team, responsible for clinical excellence, operational performance, and a patient-first culture. The role includes shaping care delivery, mentoring and developing staff, and leading initiatives to achieve meaningful outcomes in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN).
- At least 5 years of nursing leadership experience in an inpatient, hospital-based psychiatric setting.
- Active Maryland RN license or eligibility for endorsement.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Nice To Haves
- Psychiatric nursing or nursing administration certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Direct quality and utilization standards to ensure coordinated, patient-centered, cost-effective care.
- Lead clinical and nursing operations, including staffing, performance management, and resource allocation.
- Champion a patient-first culture and maintain leadership visibility through daily rounding.
- Ensure seamless care transitions and continuous regulatory readiness and compliance.
- Collaborate with physicians and partners to improve outcomes and resolve issues.
- Build and develop high-performing teams while promoting safety, accountability, and evidence-based practice.
