About The Position

Spectrum Retirement Communities is seeking a Director of Nursing to plan, organize, develop, and direct community clinical and medication programs. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local standards, as well as the Nurse Practice Act and American Nurses Association standards. The Director of Nursing will collaborate with the Executive Director on clinical concerns and compliance, serving as a clinical resource for staff. Responsibilities include providing direct nursing care, completing health assessments, developing and reviewing resident Care Plans, communicating with physicians about resident conditions, implementing interventions to reduce falls, administering medications, and assisting with resident care as needed. The role also involves ensuring timely assessments and accurate care plans in the electronic health record, communicating with the Business Office Manager for accurate billing, and maintaining knowledge of state regulations and policies.

Requirements

Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) preferred, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (Texas). Subject to state requirements
Current Nursing License for the state where the community is located
Minimum 1-2 years of management experience
Has experience in community, acute, skilled, or long-term care settings.
Possesses geriatric assessment skills.
Is knowledgeable in geriatric and dementia care.
Has the ability to train staff and to assess systems and implement systems.
Is organized and self-directed.

Must have basic computer skills – login/logoff, e-mail, documents, spreadsheets and entering data.

Nice To Haves

A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Gerontology is preferred.

Responsibilities

Plan, organize, develop and direct community clinical and medication programs in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act and within standards of clinical practice as defined by the American Nurses Association.
Inform and work collaboratively with Executive Director regarding clinical concerns and compliance issues and make recommendations for resolution.
Serve as a clinical resource for community staff.
Provide nursing care to residents, including but not limited to: Completion of health assessments, completion of resident Care Plans and reviewing them with resident family members and/or Power of Attorney, discussing changes in resident condition with physicians, introduce interventions to reduce falls based on individual resident needs, etc.
Provide medication administration and help with resident care, as needed.
Accountable for timely assessments and accurate care plans in the electronic health record, plus communication with Business Office Manager any additional care given for accurate resident billing.
Maintain a working knowledge of state regulations, policies, and procedures, dictated for compliance.
Work on-call for any shift as needed.
