Requirements

  • RN/BSN
  • Certified School Nurse Certificate or Emergency School Nurse certificate obtained within the first two months with tuition assistance.
  • Strong school nursing experience and clinical instincts.
  • Strong understanding and command of State law and regulations related to school nursing and clinical scope of practice.
  • Strong administrative skills and experience managing mandates.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise of health concerns affecting school performance: asthma, trauma and mental health, and nutrition and healthy living.
  • Proven excellence in building, managing and developing high performing teams.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Provide close supervision and support to assigned LPN School Nurse Assistants at each campus.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Centralized Operations for compliant and well-planned school nursing services.
  • Work collaboratively with the clinical team, SBHC, and school liaisons to ensure robust and well-integrated health services to youth and families.
  • Nurture and support critical relationships with school leadership and other key partners.
  • Oversee entry of valid physicals and dental exams into the electronic record.
  • Review physicals to ensure all health information is entered into the electronic record.
  • Review pertinent physicals for further care or triage to the SBHC.
  • Lead research, recording, and outreach to parents for 100% compliance with vaccine mandates and specified timeframes.
  • Lead all reporting to the state, including SHARRS and vaccine reports, and communicate with funders as needed.
  • Oversee program calls and letters to parents regarding missing medical records.
  • Ensure scheduling and support for dental provider appointments.
  • Obtain consents for all required grades and beyond.
  • Provide student health services.
  • Ensure that students are triaged as appropriate to the SBHC when open and necessary.
  • Oversee inventory and supplies for screening and health services.
  • Develop, collect, and guide care plans for students with chronic conditions.
  • Assume responsibility for the medical component of all 504’s and IEPs in the school.
  • Assist LPN with weekly screening of all students.
  • Ensure 100% fidelity in the workflow for comprehensive screening and SBHC follow-up.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of LPN screening, documentation, and scheduling of parent and SBHC follow-up appointments.
  • COVID-19 screening and management of other infectious conditions in the health room, oversight of COVID testing under purview.
  • Other duties as assigned.
