About The Position

The Director of Nursing (DON) provides leadership and strategic direction for all inpatient nursing and emergency services within the acute care hospital. This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, high‑quality, patient‑centered care across all inpatient units while maintaining compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. The DON oversees nursing operations, staffing, clinical practice, and professional development, working collaboratively with physicians, department leaders, and senior administration to drive excellence in patient outcomes and operational performance. This position leads initiatives that strengthen clinical quality, enhance patient experience, support workforce engagement, and promote a culture of accountability, compassion, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field required.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas, in good standing.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of progressive nursing leadership experience in an acute care hospital.
  • Demonstrated success overseeing multiple inpatient units and high‑acuity clinical operations.
  • Proven experience with regulatory compliance, including Joint Commission, DNV, CMS, and state regulations.
  • Strong background in quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence‑based practice.

  • Leadership certification preferred (e.g., NE‑BC, NEA‑BC, CENP)
