Director of Nursing (DON)
About The Position
Southfield Village is seeking a compassionate, confident, and people-focused Director of Nursing (DON) to lead their Health Care services. This leadership position offers an opportunity to shape a team, influence resident outcomes, develop future leaders, and make a meaningful difference. The DON will work closely with residents, families, nursing leaders, and administration to create an environment of exceptional care and a strong team culture. The role involves leading and developing a clinical team, influencing clinical quality, improving processes, and building a positive, supportive culture.
Requirements
- Current Indiana RN license.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
- At least 1 year of management experience.
- Working knowledge of MDS.
- Experience with resident assessments and care plans.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- A compassionate, respectful, and resident-centered leadership style.
- A genuine desire to develop people and build a team that succeeds together.
Nice To Haves
- 5 years of geriatric nursing experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and day-to-day clinical leadership for Health Care services.
- Oversee nursing operations.
- Serve as a coach, advocate, problem-solver, and trusted leader for the nursing team.
- Lead and support the Assistant Director of Nursing, MDS Coordinator, Scheduling Coordinator, and Central Supply/Medical Records Coordinator.
- Recruit, develop, coach, and support nursing team members.
- Monitor staffing and absenteeism to ensure appropriate coverage.
- Review clinical quality indicators and lead follow-up and improvement efforts.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and Performance Improvement Plans.
- Review clinical reports, incidents, and accidents and ensure appropriate follow-through.
- Lead the Clinical Management Team and partner with administration on clinical priorities.
- Participate in care plan meetings and partner with residents and families.
- Address resident and family concerns with compassion and professionalism.
- Support admissions and Medicare eligibility determinations.
- Ensure nursing licenses and CNA credentials are properly verified.
- Support compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Assist with nursing department operational and capital budgets.
- Identify opportunities to improve resident outcomes, clinical processes, and the team member experience.
